The “small” fish was huge!! The portion sizes are amazing value for money, all the food was piping hot when it was bought to the table and the fish was cooked fresh to order! It’s really hard to find a nice chippy. This place was recommended by someone and we’re so happy we tried it!!! All the staff are lovely and even had time to chat even if it’s about Dr Pepper v Fanta fruit twist 😂 Next time I’m in Liverpool I’ll definitely come back ❤️
Bought the fish and chips today and I definitely got an unhappy vibe from the server. Firstly, she gave me my fish chips and curry without putting them in a carrier bag(I would have paid if needed be for the bag). Reached home and saw the chips were proper hard (see picture) It looks and tasted like they were refried. I’ve been buying fish and chips from Armstrong for years and have never had food this bad before. I’ve had family come from abroad and have bought fish and chips from here for them to taste. Never had this bad before. Looks like their quality have gone down.
Fish bites and chips. Good size portion for the price which I think was £6 with a drink. Chips were great, fish was decent. The batter was a little too thick and soggy for my liking but I suppose you can't really complain at that price. Seem to be a Jack of all trades too and rather busy. A small amount of seating indoors too and off road parking if you get lucky.
Fantastic! I ordered online and called them up to check the order. They were very nice and happy on the phone and were helpful to my questions. I ordered a Hogie wrap and it was massive, lots of cheese and kebab was tasty. I got 2 cakes carrot and Victoria sponge (very tasty and fresh) The delivery person was kind when it took my a moment to get to the door and was very friendly. All in, all a brilliant experience will order again and have recommended to friends.
Similar to our experience in Catch West End, our visit to the Giffnock branch was wonderful. Excellent food and delicious food. The tempura prawn was amazing, and the battered chips, wow! It's no doubt my favourite fish and chips restaurant in Scotland.
I used to be a regular at Dads Lane. I’ve noticed every time I visit the food just gets worse and worse. My husband visited yesterday and we were not happy with our food at all! The haddock is always spot on HOWEVER the chips are always so so bad!! They’re always soggy, stick to each other and tasteless!! Well yesterday, the chips were atrocious (check the pic). I had to bin over half of them. The curry sauce had been watered down and lacked flavour. Ohhh and two weeks ago they failed to give my husband the gravy he’d ordered. He only noticed once he got home.
Despite some bad reviews, we decided to give it a go as it looked quite nice. They had an option for halal fish which they fried fresh in separate oil which was fantastic. The restaurant ambiance was lovely and the service was great too. Thought it was reasonably priced. The fish was fantastic, very light batter, not too greasy. Only thing that could be improved was the bread they offered was literally a slice of bread, would’ve expected a bread roll but not sure if that’s traditional. All in all was a great experience. Will definitely be visiting again!
Famous local fish & chips. I like how they deep fried the cod fish, so crispy. But the chips were just okay. Lots of people during lunch time. Price was kinda cheap.
This was the first fish and chips in the UK I’ve had. I usually eat fish and chips with cod but they had haddock and I wanted to try it out. It was pretty good but I think I’d prefer cod over haddock. Still overall food was good. My wife got a steak pie and it was very good. The servers are very friendly and also helpful when asking for their recommendation. Was pretty busy and had to only wait 10 min for a table of 3.
Nice restaurant even on a busy weekend! Huge plates. Reasonable prices. Nice staff. Hamburger and Fish and Chips were very good! The haggis was good, but I tried it also in another place that was better (the flavor was more black pepper than lamb). The sauce containing whisky was good!
We liked it, but out of the three of us one found a hair in her fries and everything was a bit too greasy. Taste was awesome though!! Definitely worth a try if you want authentic fast food fish and chips! The fish was really tasty
The place is decent, not the best fish & chips you’ll have for sure. Portion is decent as well for the price. Fish was quite oily same as the chips. Wasn’t a fan of the curry sauce, if it was thicker then it’d be better. Been wanting to come here for years and I did expect a lot better.
Well this was a pleasant surprise. Attended around 7pm, parked outside and was pretty busy inside. Order taken straight away and waited while order was cooked fresh. Chatty and friendly staff. Portion sizes were excellent and got plenty of scraps. Fish was thick and tasty, chips were thick and not greasy. Very tasty and enjoyable meal. Not sure how it compares locally price wise but it was very reasonable.
Lovely fish and chip shop with a great restaurant upstairs to boot. There was a queue to get in and you had to wait on the staircase but it was the busiest bit of lunch. Once seated we were served quickly and the food came quickly too. All in I'd highly recommend if you're looking for a classic fish and chips.
Following the enthusiastic recommendations from both word of mouth and online critiques, I was keen to make my visit. The premises were immaculate and orderly. The team was welcoming and appeared happy, and I was pleased to find ample street parking, especially appreciating that it wasn't situated on a main road. Nonetheless, upon ordering, I discovered the absence of hake and plaice from the menu, which I was told was attributed to the season. I hoped to sample haddock, cod, hake, and plaice for comparison, yet this omission did not dampen my spirits. My order comprised haddock, cod, a large portion of chips, a cheese savoury, scampi, a meat pie, tartare sauce, and mushy peas. The peas stood out as exceptional, the tartare sauce was satisfactory, albeit slightly too acidic, and the cod and haddock fillets were enjoyable. However, their batter would have benefited from a tad longer in the fryer. Like the fish, the batter of the cheese savoury was undercooked, failing to hold its contents together when handling, despite that, the savoury being extra tasty, received an "Oh!" from me. Overall, the establishment and staff were commendable, and the food was tasty, although I feel it was rushed out and would have benefitted from a little longer cooking time. Myself and a friend popped into Docklands fish and chips during a sunny Sunday at the Albert dock. I've never visited this chippy before, so we thought we'd give it a try. Upon entering, the place is bright and clean, and the staff are friendly, and we were served promptly. We both decided to have fish 🐟 and chips 🍟 and mushy peas. The price for this meal was £14.99 which is a little pricy for such a meal at a takeaway, although there is a dine in option which we took. The portion size was good. The piece of battered fish was pretty big. The batter was light, although it lacked any real flavour, I thought. The fish was moist, and the chips were ok 👍🏻. Overall, it's not the best fish and chips I've ever had nor the worst. The Albert dock attracts a lot of tourists, so this place is aimed at the tourist. Overall, the place is worth a visit if you want some battered fish 🐟 and chips. There are no toilets within the dining area. However, public toilets are close by and free.
Lovely quirky place good choice for vegetarian and vegans food was lovely and hot. The lady that greeted us as we came in was welcoming and friendly lovely smile .myself and son enjoyed our food.it was lovely and clean.about 2 weeks ago it was nice area too
Fantastic fish and chips, well worth the hype! My friend and I both ordered the appropriately named “Big Un”. The haddock was meaty and covered in the crispiest, lightest batter. We had plenty left over for the day after too. Just beware, if you don’t have a booking, you’ll be waiting for around an hour to be seated. The place is heaving and I honestly don’t know how they manage to Steve up so many dishes to so many guests.

I was really excited to try out the banana blossom fish, battered veggie sausage, and chips. My partner got the cod and chips. We both thought they were just okay and didn't live up to the built up hype - mainly the chips underwhelmed and there were A LOT of chips. The mushy peas were my least favorite in London but were okay. At least the staff was kind. Would maybe return and try either the Omni fish or veggie calamari. So cool! This is such an important part of history, and I loved being able to see it. It is being renovated, so there is a lot of scaffolding covering the ship. The entry fee to go on board is not that high. It was £6 per person or 18 for a group of four

Best fish and chips! Highly recommend. Initially came here in 2015 and our fish and chips dinner was so tasty we had to return! We ordered calamari and a fish cake for our starter and both were great! The haddock was fried fresh and really, really good. Not greasy at all. Generous portion of freshly fried chips. We had to try the battered sausage and it didn’t disappoint. Service was quick and friendly.

After reviewing several fish and chips venues, I found the bar has now been reset. The fish was light and flakey. The batter light and not greasy. Tartar sauce is home made and the best I've had. We also tried the calamari, which was large, tasty, and not at all chewy. Kyriakis and Sotiris are friendly and informative as the different dish types were explained.
