The Big Fish's customer reviews analysis

The Big Fish has cultivated a multi-faceted reputation among its patrons. A common thread in customer feedback is the appreciation for the value for money offered, particularly highlighted by the inclusive drink deals and the generous portion sizes. Patrons often acknowledge the family-run chippy's quality of chips and the freshness of their fish. The establishment distinguishes itself with a variety of grilled foods, such as kebabs, which receive high praise for their taste and quality. However, there are concerns regarding inconsistent food quality, particularly in terms of batter thickness and sogginess, as well as the taste and freshness of side items like chips and scallops. Service experiences also vary, as the business can become particularly busy during peak hours, leading to parking difficulties and occasionally forgotten takeaway sauces. Price increases have been noted over time, which some customers feel are not reflective of the food quality, which they perceive to have declined. The lack of card payment options and the demeanor of the service staff are additional points of criticism.

Positive Feedback

Positive customer experiences at The Big Fish are characterized by several key attributes. The establishment is often lauded for the freshness and quality of its food offerings, especially the fish and signature chips, which are regularly described as fantastic and delicious. Customers appreciate the tidy packaging and the cleanliness that comes with boxed meals. The diverse menu, particularly the grilled foods ranging from kebabs to masala fish, is viewed as an exciting alternative to traditional fish and chips, and these items are often described as sumptuous and fresh. Furthermore, the value for money and portion sizes are highlighted as favourable, with several customers feeling they received good financial value for the quantity and quality of food provided. Patrons also commend the polite customer service even during busy hours, indicating that staff efforts to maintain service standards under pressure do not go unnoticed.

Concerns and Threads

On the downside, The Big Fish faces critical feedback on several fronts. Some customers have pointed to quality issues, such as overly thick or soggy batter on the fish and lackluster taste in side dishes like chips and scallops. Price increases have been a source of frustration for long-time customers, who feel that the cost no longer correlates with the quality or portion size of the food provided. Additionally, issues with service, including forgotten sauces in takeaway orders and a perceived lack of warmth from the staff, affect the overall customer experience negatively. The inconvenience of parking during busy hours and the absence of card payment options are practical concerns that have also detracted from customer satisfaction. These areas of criticism represent opportunities for improvement, as they seem to have a significant impact on the reputation of the business.

Fish bites and chips. Good size portion for the price which I think was £6 with a drink. Chips were great, fish was decent. The batter was a little too thick and soggy for my liking but I suppose you can't really complain at that price. Seem to be a Jack of all trades too and rather busy. A small amount of seating indoors too and off road parking if you get lucky.

What a lovely family-run chippy! Been going Big Fish for years just haven’t got round to writing a review. The quality of the chips are fantastic and the fish really fresh. It comes in a box which is great & doesn’t get messy. The curry sauce & chilli sauce are perfect.. Great value for money,

Don’t evaluate The Big Fish on it’s fish and chips. If you want the best, pop down the road to This is Bedders. Where The Big Fish shines and sets itself apart from the traditional is its range of grilled foods. The kebab options are phenomenal and look sumptuous. This Islamic institution offers a range of meat options and freshly prepared nan to mop it up with. An excellent chippie alternative, with a small indoor seating area and brilliant value.
