Blue Lagoon Fish & Chips's customer reviews analysis

The overall company reputation of Blue Lagoon Fish & Chips on Argyle Street is characterized by mostly positive customer experiences with certain areas for improvement. The restaurant's ambiance and service receive consistent praise, and specific commendation is given to the presence of halal fish options, varied menu choices satisfying different dietary requirements, and the hospitality towards large groups and travelers. While there is an appreciation for the non-greasy fish with light batter, some customers note that the chips could be improved in terms of taste and appearance. Reusable oil quality also seems to be an isolated concern, with one reviewer commenting on the taste of old oil. Issues with staff behavior, such as pressuring customers to order more and a complaint regarding payment discrepancies, are rare yet notable detractions from the overall customer experience.

Positive Feedback

Customers reflect favorably on several aspects of Blue Lagoon Fish & Chips, highlighting the restaurant’s ambiance and the customer service as standout positives. The availability of halal fish options and gluten-free batter demonstrates a commitment to accommodating a diverse customer base with varying dietary needs. The quality of food, specifically the fish, is frequently lauded for its flavor and non-greasy batter. Positive interactions with staff, particularly Nicolle’s friendly service, contribute to the customer's overall experience. The cleanliness of the establishment, including washrooms, is acknowledged, and the experience for groups is noted to be exceptionally well-handled, with prompt service and separate payment options available.

Concerns and Threads

While most of the feedback for Blue Lagoon Fish & Chips is encouraging, some criticisms persist. The visual appeal and flavor of the chips are subjects of negative feedback, described as 'pale looking' and 'not very tasty'. The use of heavily reused oil is criticized by a customer who reported an unwanted residue and taste in their meal. Service, despite being largely positive, is occasionally described as 'messy' or pressuring, with an incident of a payment dispute being particularly concerning. The basic presentation of a slice of bread, instead of a more expected bread roll, is seen as an area for enhancement, suggesting that attention to detail in traditional offerings may enhance the customer experience.

Despite some bad reviews, we decided to give it a go as it looked quite nice. They had an option for halal fish which they fried fresh in separate oil which was fantastic. The restaurant ambiance was lovely and the service was great too. Thought it was reasonably priced. The fish was fantastic, very light batter, not too greasy. Only thing that could be improved was the bread they offered was literally a slice of bread, would’ve expected a bread roll but not sure if that’s traditional. All in all was a great experience. Will definitely be visiting again!

This Blue Lagoon Fish and Chip shop was very quiet early on a Friday evening. Service was a bit messy but improved by the time the food arrived. Lovely tasting fish but the chips a bit pale looking and not very tasty. Included a slice of bread and butter and a drink. On the whole the meal was enjoyable and good value. Shall go again.

Really nice place. Nicolle was really friendly, very informative and accommodating to a tired traveler who had been travelling all day. The food was tasty and plentiful. Next time I am back in Glasgow this will be my first stop of the train. Dietary restrictions: They do gluten free batter
