Reviews Summary

The overall sentiment among reviewers for 4Com’s telecommunications services is overwhelmingly negative, with frequent concerns regarding contract practices, system reliability, and customer support. Customers consistently point out inflexible long-term agreements, unclear pricing, and sales tactics that were perceived as high-pressure or misleading. Although one review acknowledges a quick problem resolution and polite staff, this is an exception amid numerous complaints about unresolved issues, lack of accountability, and stress caused by the service.

Frequent themes include dissatisfaction with lengthy 7-year contracts, recurring price increases after the initial period, and significant difficulties when attempting to resolve technical or billing problems. Several small business owners felt misled by verbal assurances that differed from contract terms, and some mention complicated relationships with third-party leasing companies. Reports of persistent system outages, billing errors, delayed responses, and challenges with obtaining clear documentation were commonly cited across multiple reviews.

In summary, 4Com is viewed by many customers as an unreliable telecommunications equipment supplier with problematic contract terms and inconsistent ongoing support. The company’s reputation is characterized by cautionary tales from businesses across the UK, highlighting a need for potential clients to closely scrutinize all agreements. Few trust or recommend the service, especially among SMEs seeking transparency and flexibility.

HIHI System Never Worked Reliably – Poor Support & No Accountability We signed a 7-year contract with 4Com in 2019 for six HIHI handsets. From day one, the system never worked properly across all six units at the same time. Between fault reports, we had to “make do and mend”, often swapping screens and bases around just to create working handsets. This meant disruption became our norm, and we eventually stopped logging every fault out of frustration, not because the issues were resolved. When we formally complained, 4Com dismissed our concerns based on the low number of support tickets — ignoring the long-term pattern of failure and the workarounds we had to rely on just to keep our phones operational. They sent an engineer in 2023 and offered a small goodwill discount. But the core system issues remained, and when we raised it again in 2025, they refused a refund, a discount, or to release us from the contract. Even after going to the Communications Ombudsman, the complaint wasn’t upheld — not because the system worked, but because we hadn’t reported each issue in real time, which we feel misses the point entirely. In short: the system never delivered, support was reactive and ineffective, and we’re now stuck in a long-term contract with no working solution. Be very cautious before signing anything long-term with 4Com. Test everything thoroughly and log every fault, or you’ll have no recourse later.

Please anybody looking at taking a phone system out with these people search through these reviews and sort by newest first. You will see the ever growing list of 1 star! I took out a system in 2020 which i was lead to believe was 2 years but actually 7 years. After 2 years your price will almost treble unless you sign into another 7 years. We are a small family business and we went from paying around £150 with our previous supplier but by the end we were paying nearly £700! This business seriously needs investigating because its sales tactics are not right at all. I really hope all these reviews help anybody looking at entering in to contract with 4com to steer well clear.

UPDATE: Original 1 star changed to a 3 star as a quick resolution has been made which I appreciate. Can't fault the customer service and the desire to fix our problems. Just be aware that you're typically signing a 7 year deal and the prices will change after 18/20 months. Stay well clear of this company. Had a Director (who was a decent guy) come and visit us yesterday to review our pricing. The person that sold us originally said not to worry about the £400 a month number as we'd get reductions every 18 months which will keep it to the £175 we currently pay. Not so apparently. That £175 is going up to £280 which will tie us into another 7 years. The small print on the contract is exactly that, small. There are plenty of reviews from people like me in the same position, tied into long contracts with false promises. Not only that but the phone quality is worse than when we were paying £100 with another company for basic handsets. They have been very proactive to try and resolve this but we still sound like we're talking in boxes.
