Incompetent and Frustrating I contacted UsayCompare on the 8th of March to arrange a health insurance policy for my parents. I specifically requested that my mother be listed as the main policyholder and provided her email address. Instead, Yawar Hodges, the advisor handling our case, incorrectly made my father the main policyholder and used the wrong email. Fixing this simple error has taken over two months. Every time forms were submitted, there were new mistakes, or we were told they hadn’t received them — even though I personally watched my mother send the forms, and she copied me in. I know for a fact they received them. They just didn’t act on them or forward them properly. It’s sheer incompetence. To make matters worse, I escalated the issue to Seth, one of Yawar’s higher-ups, who was equally unhelpful. He insisted the issue was resolved when it clearly wasn’t — I had to tell him it hadn’t been sorted. It felt like no one at UsayCompare was actually paying attention or taking ownership. By the time we realised they couldn’t fix their mistake, the 21-day cooling-off period had expired, so we couldn’t cancel the policy. In the end, we had to deal directly with BUPA to finally get things put right. This entire process has been exhausting. Yawar consistently failed to follow clear instructions, made basic errors, and showed poor communication and comprehension. Seth was dismissive and offered no real resolution. The overall service from UsayCompare has been careless, disorganised, and deeply frustrating. If you want peace of mind and professional service, and if you get either of these two advisors hang up and get somebody else. Samuel Dean last year was excellent. These two… need retraining as it’s been shocking.

I’ve had a great experience renewing my private health insurance through them. On the other hand, when I had to cancel my private insurance (which I did directly with BUPA), I started getting such an amount of missed calls from Usay Compare. After a month, this amounted to outright harassment. Over a month, I received at least two missed calls a day, one early morning and one late afternoon. I understand they’re doing their job, but this is a bit too much - and I didn’t get a single email over this month from Usay compare. I had already cancelled with BUPA and got all the relevant paperwork in the post from BUPA. When finally after a month I’ve picked up, I’ve explained that I cannot afford health insurance anymore and have already looked into other options but they are not for me. I then got an email from Usay Compare to confirm my cancellation (which was already done by BUPA a month prior). I thought it’d end there. I got another TWO calls today: one to inform me that I’d get an email, and another one to check whether I got the email. I also had the impression that the person on the other end of the phone wasn’t too apologetic about essentially harassing me with calls throughout the day when I had already made it clear that I wasn’t happy receiving that amount of calls. So, beware that Usay Compare will treat you pricelessly whilst you’re a paying a customer, but will start harassing you with calls and insist even if you don’t pick up after a month. Not a way to entice a customer to return.
