Callum Myers rated Perfect Pet Insurance 1 stars

I took out a policy with Perfect Pet Insurance to ensure my dog Milo would be covered in the event of unexpected health issues. Unfortunately, my recent experience with their claims process has been disappointing and unnecessarily difficult.
After submitting a claim for treatment in May 2025, the claim was declined on the basis that the condition was "pre-existing," citing a vague and unrelated vet visit from over nine months earlier. Despite my vet providing a formal letter clearly confirming the conditions were unrelated, and offering further support, the insurer still refused to reconsider the claim — stating more clinical evidence was required, yet refusing to say what that evidence should be.
Even my vet was left frustrated after attempting to call and clarify directly, only to be met with vague responses and no clear guidance. I’ve since been told that I, as the policyholder, must escalate it myself, which I am now doing.
I understand the need for policy terms and waiting periods, but when professional veterinary evidence is dismissed without clear reasoning or transparency, it makes the process feel very unfair and unhelpful.
I’m now left chasing answers myself, despite doing everything by the book. Sadly, I can't recommend Perfect Pet Insurance based on this experience, and I would advise others to consider how responsive an insurer is when you actually need them — not just when you're paying your premium.
Update:
After two weeks of persistence, Perfect Pet Insurance has now confirmed that the condition is not related to the earlier visit and has agreed to reimburse the claim. While I’m relieved and grateful the right outcome has been reached, it’s disappointing that it took so much effort and back-and-forth to get there — especially when the supporting evidence was clear from the outset.
A sincere thank you for resolving the issue in the end — but I do hope the claims process becomes more transparent and responsive for other customers in the future.
