This is some text inside of a div block.
I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. A genuine mistake led to my policy being cancelled, despite me taking steps early on to fix it. I didn’t fully understand how the tracking worked, I’ve had black box insurance before, but it didn’t include mobile phone usage. I often hand my phone to my young child in the car to keep her settled, and this caused my score to drop to 18. I wasn’t even clear on how to check my score at first, but once I figured it out, I called within five days of taking out the policy to understand why it was so low. I was told that if I continued driving well, I’d be fine. My score went back above 30 which is the stated minimum- but I was still told the policy was being cancelled. Apparently, once it drops below, there’s no second chance, no consideration of individual circumstances, it’s just an automatic cancellation. Complete waste of time and money. No flexibility, no real customer support, and no regard for genuine situations.

Had an awful experience with Hastings. I had heard many bad reviews from friends and family about Hastings, however they came up cheapest with my recent comparison quote and I wish I had never got involved. They waited until my policy started to send me a threatening letter asking me to send lots of photos and confirm details I had already listed on my policy or they will cancel my insurance in a week! As a young driver who travels far for work, this was very alarming as I rely on my car everyday and need cheap insurance to save as much as possible. I had been given a week to send photos or basically look elsewhere when I thought I had sorted my insurance out for another year. I send these photos across and emailed the details to confirm absolutely heard nothing back and my app was still saying they would cancel my policy. I called them up and the gentleman on the other end was very nice and helpful (the 1 star). However, on the photo of the rear of my vehicle, someone had put an aftermarket spoiler on the car and they then refused to accommodate that. I was told that because of this exterior modification which had no functional use, they would no longer be able to cover me, the gentleman was amazed they couldn’t insure me and we found it an absolute joke. Unfortunately he couldn’t do anything to help me and Hastings cancelled my insurance. I was given less than a week to find insurance elsewhere which is a waste of time and money. They kept my £80 deposit to themselves and refunded me £11, what a complete joke! This will also affect my future insurance policies for the next 5 years as I am young and I now have to let my future company/companies know that my insurance has been cancelled! Through no fault of my own. What a disaster. Do yourself a favour and do not get involved with Hastings, ESPECIALLY if you are a young driver, I can only hope this review reaches other people like myself.

Having had different insurance policies over the last few years for both car and motorbike, I had always thought that Hastings Direct was ok even though not always the cheapest. My recent experience however, has been somewhat surprising. Having had my motorbike insured with them for the last six months, I was happy to make contact and tell them I was moving house and wanted my address changed to the new address which I was not able to do through their app and had to call them! After being asked the usual questions, I was informed that they will now be unable to insure me and cancelled my insurance without any explanation or reasoning, only due to the information you have given us, we can no longer insure you (you will lose your current years build up of no claims also). Shocked and surprised was an understatement. The advisor did ask if I wanted to try and insure through them and get a different quote - NO THANK YOU. he also said it won't affect you - it better not. Suffice to say I will not be insuring with Hastings Direct anytime soon.
