Reviews Summary

Customer feedback for CarShield, an automotive warranty provider, is overwhelmingly negative based on recent reviews. Most reviewers report dissatisfaction with coverage clarity, customer support, and claim denial practices. Only one reviewer shares a positive story of CarShield covering a major engine repair, but this is outweighed by numerous complaints about misleading information, lack of coverage, and frustrating interactions with staff. Criticisms include unclear contract language, long hold times, and poor experiences for California residents.

The most consistent theme among reviewers is frustration that advertised or promised coverage does not match what is ultimately delivered. Many specifically mention coverage gaps in California, contract exclusions, or being denied for repairs that should fall under their policy. Frequent additional concerns include inadequate customer service, with some reporting that representatives were not knowledgeable or even hung up. Customers often feel misled by commercials and by what representatives initially tell them about the service.

In summary, CarShield is widely regarded as unreliable among reviewers, particularly in California where coverage appears to be significantly restricted. Patterns suggest that customers do not trust the company’s advertised benefits or claims process. Negative reputational impact is compounded by persistent communication issues and a sense of having received poor value for the money invested in the service.

When I purchased my coverage, I specifically asked if my Gold Monthly PowerTrain w/labor & Turbo covered everything inside the engine, I was told YES. Well I had a CHECK ENGINE light trigger and took it to my dealer. They called Car shield to replace temp sensor, control valve and thermostat for $1594.62. To date I paid $2309.79 for the plan they suggested and it covers none of the labor, diagnostic or fluids needed for the repair. I would not recommend this company. Tricky worded contracts.

How the government allows them to stay in business is beyond me. Total ripoff. They look for any way not to pay

About CarShield

Insurance Services
CarShield offers vehicle service contracts, often referred to as extended auto warranties, to help customers offset repair expenses related to mechanical breakdowns after a manufacturer's warranty has expired. These contracts are sold directly to consumers and are promoted as providing financial protection for auto repairs in the United States.

CarShield operates by selling monthly or fixed-term plans that specify covered repairs and exclusions, with some restrictions based on vehicle type and geographic location. Customers are required to obtain pre-approval for repairs by contacting CarShield before work is performed, and usually pay a deductible when approved. Coverage, claim process, and exclusions are governed by the terms of each plan.
