Their customer service is abysmal. No one should have to deal with someone who is unintelligible because of their foreign accent when they are dealing with a health crisis. I appreciate all cultures, But I want to be able to understand someone when I call for help.

I help my parent manage their diabetes. They are currently prescribed Mounjaro and was denied coverage for a Dexcom system because they are “not diabetic” according to BCBS. when reaching out to the insurance regarding this decision, the representative was told that parent is currently on Mounjaro for blood sugar management. The representative just said “that’s not a diabetes medication it’s for weight loss” the absolute lack of understanding and knowledge and apparently training is wild. Yes, mounjaro is being used off label for people trying to lose weight, but it’s prescribed for plenty of people for blood sugar control which is what its primary formula was made for!! There are plenty of insurance companies kicking people off of having Mounjaro covered when they aren’t diabetic BECAUSE ITS A DIABETES MEDICATION. I double checked Lily’s site just in case I was in the wrong, and I am not. Absolutely crazy that someone that is supposed to represent the company and help their insured customers would be so flippant and quick to dismiss someone like this without having the facts. I will definitely be taking this lack of training concern back to BCBS, but I want to warn others that if you are expecting knowledgeable and professional representatives and help, this is not the place to go.

Was denied coverage for a test ran for my wife and charged $250 while overseas for a wedding. They only sent me a letter alerting me of the coverage denial. When I called their customer service I was offered a lot of shrugs and an appeal form. I would rather die in the street like a dog than receive coverage from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
