Drew Dummer rated Long Distance & Out of State Movers Mayzlin Relocation 1 stars

To quickly summarize my review, this has been the worst moving experience I have ever had. Pushy sales tactics, inflated estimates, poor communication, careless movers, and extra fees at every turn. I paid way too much for a stressful, disorganized move with property damage and zero accountability. Save yourself the headache, go with another company. I couldn’t even fit all the things that went wrong into this review and had to shorten it.
I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others. There were multiple points where I genuinely wondered if I was being scammed, especially with their odd payment terms and inability to reach anyone on the phone for help.
The problems began with the estimate. The reps are aggressive salespeople who flood you with calls and pressure you to commit quickly. Their price per cubic foot was $1.25 higher than competitors, but they convinced me I was getting a deal from a discount. Joseph V., who promised to be my main contact, vanished after that first call. Despite removing my bed from the inventory, I ended up paying $300 more than the original estimate.
Their cubic foot estimates are wildly inflated—boxes labeled 4 cu ft were counted as 5, and my 19 cu ft dresser was listed as 35. I meticulously measured everything overestimating to be conservative and still came out 200 cu ft under their quote. That’s a $1,400 difference. On the quality assurance call, my spreadsheet was mostly ignored. I couldn’t update my inventory ahead of time, so we had to go line-by-line through their outdated list, making it easy to “miss” things they'd later charge extra for. With the call just 3 days before the move, canceling would’ve meant losing my deposit and scrambling for another option—while still paying 35% upfront.
My move was scheduled for March 21. Dispatch said I was the first job of the day, arriving 8-11 a.m. They showed up at 12:30 p.m. with a huge truck to move what took a van last time. I was told it would take 3 hours. It took them over 8 hours to load my 1-bedroom apartment. They left items unattended in a public courtyard, blocked walkways, and tracked dirt throughout the apartment. I had to help move items myself to finish before dark. They damaged a light fixture, scratched walls, and treated the job like amateurs.
After pickup, I was unable to get someone on the phone to voice my concerns or even get a delivery date. I finally got someone on the phone March 23, who said dispatch would call Monday. But after leaving a 1-star review in their feedback system, I got a call within hours.
They delivered on March 26 with the same two-person crew. I helped again just to speed things up. I had prepaid long carry fees but was charged even more at drop-off, even though I did 90% of the long distance carrying. Items were reassembled poorly: a desk panel was damaged, and the bed frame was left dangerously loose, with more than half the bolts not tightened.
As for damage, one nightstand was completely destroyed. Rather than report it on their forms, they tried to hide it behind boxes and it wasn’t discovered until after they left. Other furniture had scratches and chips, too. Now I get to deal with their claim process, which I expect to be slow and ineffective like their service.
At this point, I’m less angry and more disappointed. High-pressure sales tactics, careless movers, and a total lack of accountability, nothing about this move was easy or professional. I paid thousands for stress, damage, and terrible service. The fact that Mayzlin still has good reviews baffles me. Move with anyone else
