Reviews Summary

The overall sentiment toward AnyVan’s removals service from these reviews is overwhelmingly negative. Reviewers consistently report issues with careless handling of items, property damage, and a lack of accountability due to AnyVan’s role as a subcontracting intermediary. Multiple customers describe poor customer service, slow response times, unresolved claims, and inadequate compensation for losses or damages. There are both complaints of unprofessional movers and allegations of unfair or unexpected extra charges, though punctuality is occasionally noted in a positive light.

Frequent themes include dissatisfaction with the professionalism of movers and the handling of belongings, complaints about communication and delays in claim resolution, and additional costs not communicated up front. Two reviews mention feeling intimidated or pressured to pay extra fees during the move. Most feedback highlights the lack of follow-through from customer service, contributing to a perception of unreliability. There are some scattered references to booking ease and polite staff, but these are overshadowed by the negative experiences.

Overall, AnyVan’s reputation for removals in the UK appears poor based on these reviews. Common threads of unresolved damages, accusations of unfair business practices, and negative staff behavior have led to a lack of consumer confidence. Positive comments on booking convenience and staff politeness are few, making the negative aspects the dominant impression for those considering removal services with AnyVan.

Do not use this company. AnyVan is essentially a middleman that outsources your move to third-party movers, and takes no responsibility for what happens. We experienced extensive damage to both our property and belongings due to the careless handling of the movers who were extremely rude. We submitted a claim the same day, yet it took over 4 weeks just to receive a response. After all that time, AnyVan offered a laughable £80 in compensation, despite the damages amounting to thousands of pounds. Their customer service is dreadful – slow to respond, dismissive, and unwilling to take ownership of the issue. Once they have your money, you're essentially on your own. This company is a scam-like operation, profiting while leaving you to deal with the consequences of unprofessional subcontractors. Do yourself a favour and look anywhere else. AnyVan is an awful company

Positive: Removal men were on time and polite and courteous throughout. Negative: I paid extra for the packing service and as part of the packing service, they removed all items from the chest of drawers such as clothes and packed them in boxes. This meant a whole load of extra unpacking work for me to put the clothes back. It would have been so much easier to transport the clothes left in the drawers. This also meant the boxes quota was filled quickly and with no more boxes left for other items I had to pay an extra £100 cash to the removal men. There were some items not in the inventory, which I accept. However some items could have gone in the boxes that were used unnecessarily. I paid them £100 in cash as they said it would be cheaper than paying extra through AnyVan. I do feel ripped off by paying the extra money because from my perspective, the boxes were used to pack items that didn't need to be packed in boxes. Boxes were packed with very little care and items were mixed up together, which made unpacking a lot harder, for example: Kitchen equipment was mixed up with food. Shoes were mixed with baby toys Half a large box was taken up by a bag of shredded paper which I had no intention of taking. Four items were damaged which I have raised a separate claim for. In my opinion, the removal weren't experienced professionals. AnyVan will use absolutely AnyOne for home removals. I would not recommend for home removals.

If I could give them a zero-star rating, I would. AnyVan was 5 to 6 hours late from the promised time. Later, when we asked AnyVan to disassemble our items, they broke three Ikea cabinets during the process, which led me to disassemble our bed myself. Their workers even asked me for tools. They scratched our walls and our oak furniture, and they damaged the walls of our new property. One of their workers begged us not to complain because AnyVan would punish them financially, while the company itself would not suffer any consequences. I opened a complaint case, and it took them two months to say that I should get them a quote for the damages. After I provided the quote, they told me that two months ago they had decided they could not offer more than £250.50, when the quote for the damage was £1700 approx. They said if I was happy with that amount, I could accept it; otherwise, the option to keep the case open was still available. I asked if they could provide their final response so I could take the matter to the Ombudsman, but they explained that they are not regulated as a business, so their cases cannot go to the Ombudsman. Dealing with them has been very frustrating. Feel free to use their services, but be aware that they engage in fraudulent practices and will not fulfill their promises..

Frequently Asked Questions About AnyVan

Does AnyVan subcontract moving jobs to third-party providers?

Yes, AnyVan acts as a platform that connects customers with independent movers, meaning the people conducting your move may not be employed directly by AnyVan but contracted by them for each job.

What happens if my items are damaged during a move with AnyVan?

Several reviewers report challenges in resolving damage claims with AnyVan, including delayed responses and compensation often perceived as inadequate. Providing evidence and prompt claims is required, but satisfaction with the process appears low in customer feedback.

Are there additional costs beyond the quoted price?

Some reviews mention unexpected extra charges, such as fees for walking distance or additional boxes, which were not always clear beforehand. It's advisable to clarify any potential additional fees before booking.
