Reviews Summary

The overall sentiment for WOB (World of Books) as an online book retailer is mixed, with both repeat customers and dissatisfied buyers sharing detailed feedback. Reviewers consistently note issues such as delays, problems with order fulfillment, and frustration with customer service, including lack of refunds or having to pay for returns in error cases. However, there are also loyal buyers who have had reliable experiences and appreciate the selection and prices, particularly for out-of-print series.

Common themes include inconsistent product quality—especially regarding the condition of used books—and erratic pricing that can change based on perceived demand. Several customers highlight delays in communication and order processing, and some mention misleading product listings on platforms like eBay. Positive recurring points are a wide inventory and strong prices for certain titles, as well as rare but satisfactory resolutions after contacting support.

Overall, World of Books holds a highly mixed reputation in the UK and globally. Consumers appreciate the broad selection and affordable prices, but recurring issues with quality, stock accuracy, and after-sales service temper trust. While seasoned repeat buyers find value, potential customers in the UK and elsewhere should be aware of possible fulfillment and communication challenges.

Please beaware of this company, you could end up with nothing but wasting your time. There are hundred of hundred horrible review of this company!! mine too. This is the worst company ever. You should beaware of them!! The price? Are you willing to waste your precious time just to save a few quids? Let me share my horrible experience with you. My daughter loves a particular book, so I ordered it on March 26th. It was available on Amazon, but I thought, “Let’s support other companies instead of always going with the big ones.” So, I gave this company a try. After placing my order, I expected it to arrive within a reasonable time. I got a tracking number and checked the status after a few days—it said there was an address issue, and the package was being returned. So, I reached out to customer service. And what did they say? Without even checking, they told me not to worry because the package was on its way. But I had proof that it was being returned, so I sent them a screenshot and emphasized the issue again. I kept waiting. Then, they finally admitted that they had received the book back. So, I asked them to send it again quickly because my daughter had been waiting for it. At this point, if they had just resent the book, I would have understood. Even if it was delayed, I could have been patient. But then—suddenly, they told me the book was out of stock. They couldn’t send it anymore. Instead, they offered me something else of a similar price. similar price of what??? What kind of nonsense is this? This is why you should never use this company. I ordered the book on March 26th, and on April 3rd, they finally told me about "refund" I didn’t need a refund, I needed the book! They wasted my time without properly checking anything. even I presume Selling an item they don’t even have? That’s basically a scam. isn't it? In the end, I just bought the book from Amazon and received it the next day—no issues at all. I used to believe in supporting smaller businesses, but maybe I was wrong. This might be unfair to honest small businesses, but this particular company? Absolutely not. For anyone looking for a good online bookstore, I highly recommend "Books2Door". Their customer service may be a little slow, but they always deliver quickly and handle issues properly. I only tried another store because Books2Door didn’t have the book I needed. But next time, I won’t make that mistake again.

Always loved world of books and purchased a few used books from them but recently I bought 2 ology series books and was going to buy another vampireology one but they rose the price from €30 to €80. Just because the other ones were bought from me they thought the demand is high. I was about to purchase last night until I noticed the price increase. They do the same with the Martha Stewart books too change the price based on if its popular or not. Set it to one price and leave it at that if you want loyal customers as people do notice.
