BAIT AND SWITCH! Purchased the 6-month subscription as a gift and 8 months later I realized they were still charging my card. I confirmed my receipt only mentions 6 boxes so I contacted Customer Service to get a refund on the box that hasn't shipped and requested a refund for the box I didn't order that my friend received. When they wouldn't refund the other unordered box I was annoyed because Universal Yum took advantage and got another sale, but I take some accountability for not having noticed in a reasonable timeframe. However, Universal Yum takes NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR MISLEADING (OR STRAIGHT UP DEFRAUDING) THEIR CUSTOMERS. Customer Service would not acknowledge that the purchase receipt UY delivered confirming the 6 boxes I selected does not mention anything about additional boxes after 6 months which makes sense because I explicitly signed up for ONLY 6 BOXES. This makes it clear to me that their intention is to scam customers. They kept sending me a screenshot of my Account on their side to "prove" I signed up for the monthly subscription as if they didn't own that data and could change it at any point. The fact is I signed up for 6 months, got a receipt that supports that, and was taken advantage of at some point because I didn't log in to confirm my Account matched what I agreed to after my purchase and before each shipment. If you can't trust a company to store your data correctly or honestly then it's not a company worth doing business with. Universal Yums lost multiple customers as I will no longer use it personally or as gifts. Instead, I will look at 'Try the World' as an alternative.

I gifted a Ukraine box to my best friend who is displaced with her family because of the war for the last 2 years - she just made it to Canada and was hoping that the box would be familiar piece of home. Canadian shipping is quite difficult- they may charge customs in order to receive it and it can take weeks to get there. Luckily, the box made it to the local post office. A few days went by and even though tracking said it was delivered to the residence, it was not. I contacted both the shipping company and Universal Yums to see what my next steps were. Customer service was amazing and responded first thing and offered to ship out another box. I waited for my friend to stop by the post office in person to inquire about the package and it was being held there, with no extra fees! Customer service reached out once a day at least just to make sure everything with my order was resolved and I no longer needed help after I let them know the package was happily received. My friends’ loved every snack in the box, shared with me all the memories (both childhood and recent) they had of the food they received and thought they wouldn’t be able to taste again. What an amazing concept and idea - connecting people through food! Thank you so much for making this gift possible.
