I am extremely dissatisfied about this firm as existing client, I did a transaction with Spencer Lockwood Solicitors in early 2024, now over 1.5 years after completion I am still waiting for hear back from them about land registry, people dealt with my case has left the firm and I am struggling to find anyone to follow up. I called them multiple times during last few months, sometimes they claim they can't find anything about my transaction in their system, sometime they found the case and promise to give me an update via email or callback and I never received any email or call.

Echoing the sentiments of several other reviewers regrettably I have to recommend that buyers avoid Spencer Lockwood. Their prices are of course around the cheapest of the market, but in return you get glacially slow progress and no communication. It is now over three weeks since I signed to engage Spencer Lockwood and I have yet to even receive the digital link for ID and Laundering checks despite perhaps half a dozen calls and 4 emails to expedite this straightforward next step. The seller is already expressing concern and as first time buyers myself and my partner now have an extra layer of worry to deal with. The apparent savings we made are simply not worth the additional worry that has resulted from Spencer Lockwood s poor communication and failure to act.

We had an extremely disappointing experience with Spencer Lockwood Solicitors (also affiliated with Ackroyd Legal), who were recommended to us by our property broker for the sale and purchase of our home. While the process initially started well with regular updates from our then case handler, Monika G, everything deteriorated rapidly after completion. Once the purchase was finalised, communication stopped entirely—we were left in the dark for months. We eventually discovered that Monika had resigned from the firm, and shockingly, our case had not been reassigned to anyone. Since then, our case handler has changed twice, with no continuity or proper updates. We followed the firm’s complaints procedure and raised our concerns with Daniel B, the Director at the time, due to the unacceptable service and complete lack of communication. Our complaint was ignored. We later found out that he, too, had resigned—again, without any notice to clients or accountability. We were repeatedly instructed to call “first thing in the morning” to speak to someone, but calls go unanswered. Emails are rarely responded to unless we chase persistently. This ongoing neglect has caused us significant and unnecessary stress. We are still not officially registered as homeowners, leaving us unable to carry out essential home improvements, remortgage, or even confirm our property boundaries or restrictions. Despite repeatedly explaining the urgency, our concerns and instructions have been completely ignored. In short, this firm has taken our money but failed to deliver the professional service they were contracted to provide. Their lack of accountability, transparency, and basic client care is appalling. We would strongly advise others to be cautious, even if this firm is recommended through brokers. Based on our experience, they are unfit to handle legal matters responsibly.
