My experiences with the branch were positive so I am not going to reference or down talk them but there was one factor of the sale process I did not like and I feel compelled to address via a review on Head Office. When you make an offer, you naturally need to provide proof of funds including confirmation you have a mortgage offer. Once our offer was accepted in principle, I was told I need to speak to someone from head office, an analyst, who would review our ability to buy the property and assess our finances. As I work in property, I had a strong feeling what the request actually was. The agent advised me it was company policy that no offer can be accepted until we speak to the analyst as they advise the seller if we are “proceedable” not the agent. I nonetheless had the phone call and it was clear immediately I was on a sales call and the person I was speaking to was trying to persuade me to change and consider new mortgages through Haart - a conditional selling tactic. They even suggested that it was their buyer who requested for assurance that we could buy the property. I was direct with this advisor that my offer included an mortgage offer in principle, and our proof of funds adds up to our accepted offer and this phone call feels like a conditional selling and the tone changed. Once the call ended, we received an email within an hour confirming we are an acceptable buyer. This is obviously timely given the bbc Panorama documentary which further highlights the need to address this issue with institutional estate agents like Haart, so they change their practices. Hopefully the next person who gets asked, would have seen this, will know exactly what it is, and they don’t feel pressured if they have all their financials in orders.

The agent seemed great at first. Israr seemed was very efficient… well at least we though that was the case. We agreed when making the offer the property would have a deep clean and some of the walls would be painted. Only to pick up the keys three weeks later to find neither had been done. After calling the office several times we found out that neither had been arranged despite the property being empty for three weeks! We finally found out that neither were put to the landlord even though we have it in writing that both were agreed. We called and emailed only for the maintenance team to pass the blame onto someone else and stay they can’t help. Finally after 48 hours of chasing a cleaner was arranged… only to arrive and see the nothing had been touched. All the areas we said needed to be cleaned were exactly the same. We delayed our move in by two days despite the extra costs to us. Two weeks later we are still chasing them to sort the decorating when they had ample time to do this prior to us moving in. We’ve asking for a manger to contact us several times and this has been ignored. They even have the cheek to asks for a 5 star review

What a Shane there is no option to give ZERO stars. I've been trying to sell a flat via the Guildford office service has been atrocious. Staff never in office, no call backs, texts or emails just "I've left an urgent message". Id say the service was amateurish but frankly its not even been that good... just absent. If I can't get them , how many purchase enquiries have been lost? Perhaps this explains why so many promised viewings never happened. On top of all that they lost my keys. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Reviews Summary

Overall sentiment toward Haart Estate Agents, as reflected in recent customer reviews, is overwhelmingly negative. Reviewers consistently mention issues with communication, unfulfilled promises regarding property maintenance, and a lack of responsiveness from both local branches and head office. Some reports cite conditional sales tactics, excessive follow-up communications, and problems with returning rental deposits or coordinating property management. While there is occasional acknowledgement of polite staff encounters, these positives are rare and frequently overshadowed by other concerns.

The most frequent themes are unresponsiveness, unresolved maintenance or cleaning requests, and a sense of being undervalued as a client. Landlords and sellers comment on delayed or absent replies, difficulties reaching real people, and a perceived lack of accountability for mistakes. Additional complaints highlight aggressive upselling practices, unexpected extra fees, and cases where work is either not completed or overpriced, covering both sales and lettings across multiple UK locations.

On balance, Haart Estate Agents is regarded by reviewers as a company with significant reliability and service delivery challenges, particularly in communication and problem resolution. Issues raised come from landlords, buyers, and sellers in varied regions such as Guildford, Newport, Kent, and Sutton, suggesting systemic rather than isolated problems. Prospective clients in the UK are cautioned by reviewers to approach with care.
