I originally had 5 stars some years ago but boy-o-boy times have changed. This particular planet fitness needs better management. A lot of the equipment repairs get ignored, the floors are not cleaned often enough, and not least of all is the crowd it attracts: homeless people in changing room, strange people dressing up like it's Halloween or something, and gay men not dressing appropriately. Extremely poorly managed and highly unprofessional gym. Unsanitary, deceitful, and under supplied. I worked with the GM to find a way to try the gym once. He explained that their location does not offer a complimentary experience to try the gym but rather that a day pass cost $20 (two months of a membership fee). He proceeded to tell me that a Black Card Membership would be $5.12 due today and I could cancel same day and have "no further charges". He proceeded to cancel my membership after experiencing the gym for the day. I have a signed cancellation document from the GM himself. Days later I received the full Black Card Membership fee of $25.50 automatically withdrawn from my checking account. I am away from the location that I signed up at and went on to politely speak to the GM where I am traveling. The two employees spoke on speaker phone and the Streeterville employee told this General Manager that I am a high risk, fraudulent, scamming member. Wow. Not only am I charged for a Black Card Membership, I cannot use my membership because I am apparently cancelled? It is shameful for Planet Fitness employees to label their paying customers as such when they were conned by their own general managers. I would suggest better education for employees, a more modern operating system, and ANY other gym than this.
