Three years ago, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My doctors advised me to improve my diet and exercise, which led me to the Sequoia YMCA. My friend Billy suggested I try Amy’s bicycle exercise class, and after just two sessions, I noticed a significant boost in my strength and, even more importantly, my mood. From that moment on, the YMCA became more than just a place to work out—it became a community. I’ve met incredible people who continue to inspire and encourage me every day. I’ve explored various programs, including Senior Exercise and Zumba, all of which have been fantastic. If only I had the time and energy to do them all! I also joined the aquatic exercise program (six times a week!) and even became part of the aquatic volleyball team—what a blast! Then, three months ago, my doctors performed another biopsy. This time, the pathologist found no cancer cells. None. For this, I am profoundly grateful. "Infinitas gracias" to my new friends, the incredible instructors, the dedicated directors, and the entire crew at the Sequoia YMCA. Your support, energy, and encouragement have made an immeasurable difference in my life.

Ah, this gym offers countless extras you won't find in the brochure, all included in the base membership. Agility training: want some dumbbells, challenge your footwork tip-toeing around all the dumbbells on the ground to make it to the rack (see pic). Also a bit of a treasure hunt, fun! Soft gym upholstery: residual sweat from other gym-goers both seasons the tough material while making it feel like a group workout! Getting tired? Move your workout to the TRX room, where the aroma will snap you out of your funk and motivate you to be efficient and get your stuff done asap, so you get get the heck outta there. One of the many benefits of carpet in a gym. Seriously, with so many specialized and personal trainer-focused gyms in the area, it's nice to have just a basic gym. But it's a bit of a diamond in the rough. I think if the staff made even small changes, it could be so much better.

This review is for kids swim lessons: Instructors are knowledgeable and friendly. They often say hi to my kid when they see him, even if they are no longer have him as a student. Instructors respect kids' comfort zones and encourage them to try new things but don't push them beyond where they're comfortable (for example: jumping in the deep end before they are ready).
