This is some text inside of a div block.
I’ve been going to this gym for a year now and honestly it’s going downhill and into disrepair. Absolutely baffling considering the monthly fee is £30. The indoor bikes (see pictures) don’t work properly. The bike computer is broken and doesn’t display any info aside from time - until it turns off so that’s also useless. The saddles doesn’t stay in place and need to be constantly readjusted. The “resistance” also doesn’t work as well as before. In short, change them or fix them - but as they are they are taking space for nothing. You should also check the changing room. The women’s one always has 90% of its lockers constantly locked, and another 5% has stuff in it without padlock, meaning that even on days when the gym is mostly empty, there’s no enough space to actually lock your stuff. Please make sure you check every day that no one is leaving stuff behind… On top of this during the week the gym is constantly stuffed with people so working out is challenging. Most of the time is spent trying to find some floor space or a machine that’s free. There are also no medicine balls which is baffling. Avoid if you can, unless there’s some improvements it’s not worth it.

This gym was in a bad state last year. However, it has been improving greatly the past months. There is a great selection of classes including Zumba, cleanliness has increased especially in changing rooms, and there is a stronger community with the regular goers. Only disadvantage would be how hectic it can get after 6pm.

How long until this gym goes back to 24 hours? It’s really bothering me that I cannot use the gym past 10pm. As such this is making me want to cancel my membership… such a shame as it is a good gym, affordable, and local. But why advertise as a 24 hour gym when it is restricted hours, no staff can tell you how long the “limited” hours are…. No information on their website…. Hope someone can help…

Reviews Summary

Customer feedback for PureGym, specifically the Woolwich branch, presents a mixed but generally engaged sentiment towards its gym services. Reviewers consistently note positive experiences with certain trainers and fitness classes, highlighting supportive staff and a strong sense of community. However, criticisms are frequent, ranging from cleanliness issues to overcrowded facilities, persistent equipment maintenance problems, and dissatisfaction with limited opening hours.

The most commonly recurring themes include crowded conditions, especially during peak hours, and hygiene challenges such as unpleasant locker room odors and infrequent equipment cleaning. Customers also reference the value of the personal trainers by name and the variety and quality of gym classes, emphasizing their impact on motivation and enjoyment. Equipment upkeep (specifically bikes) and restrictions on advertised 24-hour access are repeatedly cited as frustrations.

Overall, PureGym in Woolwich is regarded as a popular, well-located fitness center with standout staff and classes, but its reputation is compromised by regular complaints about overcrowding and hygiene. The gym’s role as one of the more affordable options in the area adds to its appeal, though operational challenges remain an ongoing concern in southeast London.
