Reviews Summary

Analysis of recent reviews for Pineapple Dance Studios presents a nuanced picture of the company's reputation and customer experience. Positive feedback highlights the diversity of dance classes available, the professionalism and energy of instructors, and an overall satisfactory experience for various events such as hen parties. Notably, commendations are made for the cleanliness of the facilities, the effectiveness of the warm-ups and routines, and the instructional quality provided by some instructors, which facilitated a rapid learning of dance routines. However, some customers have reported negative experiences, chiefly revolving around the lack of inclusivity and the perceived skill bias by instructors. There is an expressed need for clearer class level labeling to better manage expectations and improve inclusivity. Additionally, unfriendly attitudes towards customers of certain body sizes and inadequate beginner support are cited as detractions from the otherwise positive attributes of the studio.

I did my second class today and I was really disappointed. I train at a different adult ballet studio (intermediate class) usually but due to scheduling conflict I went to pineapple studio so I wouldn’t miss a week of practice. Last week was fine, it was a bit challenging but in a fun way so I was looking forward to todays class. The class was advertised for general - with the only warning that you should be somewhat familiar with ballet term which I am. I was told when I entered the class that a lot of students today came from another studio where the teacher also teach. During the class the teacher didn’t bother explaining any of the routine, created difficult exercise that suited 1/2 of the class (advanced) but left the other half struggling. Teacher only corrected advanced student (especially their own from the other studio) and didn’t seem to engage with anyone else. I left the class crying, feeling really bad about myself and wishing I had never went. A general ballet class should be at a level comfortable for everyone, and if advanced student want more challenge they can easily tweak the exercises to themselves. It is not for the ‘less good’ student to magically become better to match the level of the advanced student Super disappointed since the studio was highly recommended to me… If the teacher wants to teach advanced classic you should advertise the class as such. Edit for explanation: the lack of explanation wasn’t just that the teacher didn’t demonstrate, I am able to pick up information orally. It was more like a half hand miming with ‘tatatata’ as vocal explanation. Which I’m sure a student that works with her weekly might understand what it means. But someone that just joined the studio can’t.

Pineapple is a great place - friendly staff, clean studios & changing rooms and a great range of classes, covering all levels and all kinds of different styles. I currently attend three classes... Musical Theatre Dance with Phil is a lovely, friendly class. The warm up works on strength, core and balance and then the second half of class is learning a routine to a musical theatre number. 80s Aerobic Workout with We Are Synthetics is led by the delightful Ben, who is a ray of sunshine... and somehow squats and crunches don't seem so bad when accompanied by Baltimora or Pat Benatar.... Intermediate Tap with Derek is a good workout for the brain as well as the feet. Derek is a legend and he is very keen to help you improve your tap technique, as well as teaching a different routine each week, to an eclectic mix of tunes. If you're interested in any style of dance, I would highly recommend giving Pineapple a go!
