Broadway Dance Center's customer reviews analysis

Broadway Dance Center (BDC) presents a complex picture of its reputation based on the latest customer reviews, revealing an institution with notable strengths in teaching quality and class offerings, but simultaneously hindered by repeated critiques of customer service. While a number of customers commend BDC for its professionalism, class variety, and experienced teachers, there is a concerning trend of negative experiences with the front desk personnel. Rude and dismissive staff interactions, particularly during the check-in process, have marred the experiences of several customers. Additionally, there is feedback suggesting the beginner classes may not be appropriately calibrated for true beginners, leading to instances of frustration and discomfort. Notably, management responsiveness to complaints does appear to be active, potentially indicating a willingness to address and amend these customer service issues.

Positive Feedback

Broadway Dance Center is repeatedly praised for its professional and skilled instructors, who are described as experienced, kind, and funny. The range of classes on offer caters to different proficiency levels and dance styles, contributing positively to the center's reputation. Customers appreciate the organized operations, facilitated by technology such as the BDC app, which streamlines class booking and scheduling. The center's atmosphere is lauded as unmatched and encouraging for ongoing training and improvement. For those able to interact primarily with the teaching facet of BDC, the experiences have been positive and rewarding, defining the center as a top choice for dance education in New York City.

Concerns and Threads

Customer feedback pinpoints two significant areas of concern for Broadway Dance Center: customer service and class level accuracy. The front desk staff's demeanor is a recurring detraction, with multiple reviews characterizing their approach as 'very very rude,' 'painfully miserable,' and 'curt.' This negative interaction begins at the first point of contact, potentially setting a discouraging tone for new attendees. In addition, the class difficulty is reported to possibly be misrepresented, especially for beginners, where expectations of instructional support and patience are not always met. These combined factors suggest a discordant customer experience that could be deterring to both prospective and returning dancers.

Front staff very very rude. I have heard multiple complaints from other dancers in the change rooms who experience the same rudeness from the staff. Teachers are okay, a few are good. Overall, Steps on Broadway has higher quality training and is a better experience in all respects. Edit: manager reached out to me, which I really appreciated!

The studio is fine and pretty well maintained for the size, MOST classes were good but this place definitely doesn’t nurture a very nice environment. I really wonder what makes working the front desk here so painfully miserable because every single person I dealt with at the counter was incredible rude. The check in process is different than most studios in the city and they don’t make that very clear when you first come and make you feel like a noob for not knowing. They’ll check you in and make you stand there (while they have a chat to someone else) waiting to finish checking you. Main offender was the tall man. My last class, my app wasn’t opening, I asked the girl if she could check me in manually and she said ‘just open the app’… to which I said it wasn’t working… to which she said super sarcastically ‘damn I’ll just check you in then’………… hard work I know. I can see this isn’t the first review like this so I don’t know maybe do something about it.

I was yelled at by the dance instructor for messing up ONCE in a BEGINNER CLASS. I turned left instead of right and he YELLED AT ME. He suggested I "leave the class if I can't follow his choreography". I'm a grown man, I didn't pay to be disciplined by someone who is probably younger than me anyways. I'm paying for a class. If I need a second to catch on, you should TEACH ME, that's what I paid for. Not for you to yell at me.
