Mildreds Soho's customer reviews analysis

Mildreds Soho maintains a largely positive reputation among its customer base, particularly applauded for its plant-based cuisine and menu selection. Patrons celebrate the taste and variety of dishes, with several reviews highlighting the restaurant's ability to impress both vegan and non-vegan guests. The exceptional culinary experience, including the presentation, flavor, and texture of the food, appears to be a strong suit for Mildreds, and desserts such as the Tiramisu and salted caramel ice cream receive special mentions. However, the establishment’s physical setup receives criticism; customers repeatedly note the cramped space and discomfort caused by tightly packed seating and high traffic areas. Service quality is perceived as variable, with some guests noting friendly and quick service, and others experiencing less attentive or helpful interactions, implicating an inconsistency in customer care. The ambiance is generally described as pleasant and the restaurant is recognized as an institution in Soho, suggesting a solid foundation of customer appreciation, despite instances of dissatisfaction regarding space and service.

Positive Feedback

Mildreds Soho excels in offering delectable vegan cuisine, with a consistently positive response to the quality and taste of its food. Dishes such as spinach gyozas, batatas bravas, whipped feta, and various burgers and desserts receive high praise for their flavor and presentation. The restaurant's ability to provide a varied menu catering to dietary restrictions and the exclusivity of an all-vegan offering is well-received, enhancing its appeal to a diverse clientele. The atmosphere, although cramped, is described as lively with some customers enjoying the energetic environment for various occasions. Additionally, the venue’s ambience and courteous staff contribute positively to the dining experience for many guests. Special gestures like birthday gifts through the mailing list add a personal touch and are appreciated by patrons, fostering loyalty and adding to the restaurant's positive reputation.

Concerns and Threads

A predominant area of concern for Mildreds Soho is the restaurant’s spatial arrangement, with multiple reviewers finding the seating too cramped and the traffic flow around the dining area disruptive. Customers also express discomfort with the high noise levels, which appear to detract from the dining experience. Service inconsistencies, such as inattentive waitstaff or miscommunication regarding available menu items, represent another area of negative feedback. Some guests report issues with upkeep, pointing towards inadequately maintained restrooms and a general decline from Mildreds' usual standards. Cost is mentioned as a point of contention, with some feeling that the pricing is high relative to portion sizes and overall value. These factors combine to influence certain customers' reluctance to return or recommend the establishment unequivocally.

Trendy plant-based eatery in Soho with various tasty dishes. Came here on New Year’s Day shortly after they opened, expecting that they would have the brunch menu available, but unfortunately they did not (no worries as the regular menu looked good). When we first got there our waitress asked if we wanted still or sparkling water, we said still, assuming it would be standard tap water; only later in the meal did we realize that they charged us for a bottle (we noticed that every other table had a different style bottle of water). We were never given the option for tap - we never order non-tap bottled water. For food we ordered the nachos to start (it was strongly suggested we get it with a side of guacamole). The nachos were good but the guac just ok, would not order that again. We also got the patatas bravas which were tasty, and the sausage sandwich which we thought was good, not great. We ordered the crème brûlée for dessert which was very tasty. We did not find our waitress to be super friendly or helpful; it seemed that their service was better for other tables. Other staff seemed to be friendly. Love that this is a vegan restaurant, but overall, considering the cost and our experience here, not sure we would come back when visiting London.

The food is absolutely delicious, and the service is quick. But we were so uncomfortable at our table. The place is really small and crammed full with tables and chairs. Each time a waiter was serving another table, they were hitting my chair. Not on purpose, they just had no space to move! To add to the fun, we were also next to the stairs leading to the toilets. So even more traffic! We really couldn't wait to leave.

Had our Xmas team lunch here, just 3 of us, me being the only vegan, so I wanted to pick somewhere my colleagues would experience wonderful vegan food. It was everything and more! The food was incredible, from presentation to flavor and texture. Stunning! I ordered spinach gyozas, batatas bravas, whipped feta, the curry, and passion fruit cheesecake. I enjoyed a mocktail too. Couldn't have been happier. It's all very cramped in there, but the food more than makes up for it. Treat yourself!
