Reviews Summary

Based on recent customer feedback, Daikin’s reputation in the UK for its heat pump and air conditioning systems is overwhelmingly negative. Reviewers consistently note prolonged heating and hot water outages, repeated equipment failures, and significant delays in repairs. The company’s customer service approach—characterized by limited direct communication and reliance on subcontractors—has been cited as a major shortcoming. A few mention the reputation of Daikin in Japan but highlight a marked contrast in UK operations. Customers report ongoing problems with the company’s processes, including miscommunication between engineers and call centers, difficulties obtaining responses or support, unresolved issues despite multiple service calls, and frustration with payment and warranty policies. These problems are repeatedly referenced across different locations, with specific mentions in South London and Bristol. The most common themes involve a lack of system reliability, poor aftersales support, frequent operational breakdowns, and customer service that customers describe as unresponsive or unsympathetic.

Overall, Daikin’s reputation in the UK is viewed negatively, with reviewers expressing significant distrust regarding their air source heat pumps and overall service. Local and regional assessments consistently reflect dissatisfaction, citing unresolved technical issues and poor support as deterrents to recommending Daikin’s products or services.

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Daikin Heat Pump System and Customer Service I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the performance of the Daikin heat pump system installed in my home, as well as the unacceptable lack of support from Daikin's customer service. The system has been non-functional since October 28, 2024, leaving me without hot water or heating for over a month. As my apartment relies solely on electricity (there is no gas supply), this has been a severe disruption to my daily life. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue, the system remains broken, and Daikin’s approach to addressing this situation has been extremely disappointing. Here are the key issues I have faced: 1. Repeated Failures with No Resolution: Over the past month, five separate engineers have visited my property to troubleshoot the system. Each one spent hours on the phone with Daikin’s technical support, yet none were able to fix the problem. 2. Lack of Direct Communication with Customers: Daikin’s customer service policy prevents direct communication with customers, allowing only engineers to interact with their team. This has left me, the affected customer, completely in the dark regarding progress or solutions. 3. Delays in Diagnosis and Repair: After significant delays, a Daikin engineer finally visited this week to diagnose the issue. The engineer confirmed that the repair would take an entire day but informed me that no further action could be taken until: a) The findings were reported back to Daikin's office. b) A quote was prepared and approved by my landlord. c) The required part was ordered (a part that is not available in the UK). d) I urged the engineer to expedite the process, including ordering the part in advance, but no action has been taken since his visit. 4. Impact on My Quality of Life: For over a month, I have been without hot water or heating during the coldest part of the year. I am forced to travel to my elderly mother’s home daily just to take a shower. At 54 years old and with existing health conditions, this situation is unacceptable and has taken a significant toll on my physical and emotional well-being. 5. Financial Inefficiency and Waste: This ongoing issue has already resulted in considerable costs for my landlord, including multiple failed service calls and diagnostic attempts. Now, the upcoming repair will involve significant labor costs and a costly replacement part. Daikin’s complete lack of urgency, communication, and empathy is unacceptable. This has been a deeply frustrating and stressful experience, exacerbated by the company’s inability to deliver a solution or prioritize the needs of their customers. I am considering taking legal action against Daikin for their failure to address this matter in a timely and humane manner. At this point, I feel compelled to warn others about the risks of relying on Daikin’s products and their substandard customer service. I hope that posting this complaint publicly will prompt Daikin to take responsibility and act with the urgency and care that this situation demands.

The service is shocking, we have a heat source pump and cylinder installed less than 6 months and its brocken down, we have had no heating in the house for four weeks due to incorrect replacement parts being sent out, then having to wait for a engineer to say we need another part of which daiken do not know when it will be delivered. Trying to deal with someone direct and not the many call centers or and phone systems is so frustrating.

Please think carefully before purchasing a Daikin product in the UK. As a construction professional, I simply can't recommend their products currently. Despite their excellent reputation in Japan, their UK customer service is in my experience completely woeful and should be a complete embarrassment to both the global Daikin brand and the wider renewables industry. We had a faulty product, a brand-new heat pump that doesn't defrost (suggesting a factory QC issues). After a lengthy wait on the phone, we raised a "high-priority" call informing Daikin that our clients were without heat and had vulnerable persons in the property. Despite chasing them it took an incredible 10 days before an engineer addended. The "Daikin Engineer" we were promised was in fact a sub-contracted local plumber! The operative, although pleasant and helpful carried no Daikin spares and wasn't provided with replacement parts for the reported fault. They were instructed just to report back to Daikin before a repair could even be ordered, despite the fault being clear-cut. I won't hold my breath on a repair or replacement happening within weeks of the "high-priority" call being raised. I will of course update this review with the final time taken. Clearly, for something as vital as home heating, this is in no way acceptable. I fear these experiences may also put the public off heat pumps in general, which is a great shame. MD Hiroyasu Ishikawa and Deputy MD Mark Dyer clearly have a lot of work to do!
