I had one of the worst car rental experiences ever — and it was made worse by Auto Europe’s lack of real support when I needed it most. After a serious breakdown near Imola with a car booked through their platform (VIPCar), I spent over 4 hours under the sun with my elderly parents (69 and 70 years old) waiting for a tow, with no water, no shade, and no replacement vehicle offered. Despite multiple calls, all I was told was to rent another car myself. I followed their guidance, paid €359.59 out of pocket for a new rental, two Uber trips, and random extra charges. Auto Europe’s service team never answered when I tried to contact them again. Their site says support is available until 18:00 — but no one picks up. I expected at least some accountability or help reclaiming these costs. Extremely disappointing. Will not use this platform again. No answers by now only “our agents are dealing with that”. It can’t take up 8 weeks…bullshit!

TERRIBLE! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! Received a 12 year old car with 200K miles, the car was half-broken and not matching my order. Also their full insurance cover was not “fully covered” and I was forced to pay an extra £120 on collecting the car. CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL IGNORE YOUR CALL OR HELP.

Quite unhappy with Autoeurope. They are just middlemen. When bad things happen they are no use at all. Customer service are curt and not at all helpful. I rented a car through them, but was scammed by Hertz at Turin Airport and ended up paying all kinds of extras that I hadn't agreed to. I thought I was paying 60 euros for a cross border fee and snow tyres. It ended up that I was paying 340 euros for an entirely new rental. The voucher amount deducted from the final total didn't match the fee I paid Autoeurope. Despite asking for clarification regards this discrepancy Autoeurope respond by saying in so many words 'it's all your own fault'. Never ever ever again. In mitigation, the real crooks here are Hertz at the airport. Scammers is the only word for them. Absolute crooks. But you'd think Autoeurope would have some interest in situations like this, after all it reflects badly on everyone.
