Misled Again – Extremely Disappointed with AT&T and Sales Rep Ibrahim
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1 out of 5 stars)
I went to the AT&T store on May 3rd just to buy a new phone — nothing else. I was helped by a sales rep named Ibrahim, and I was very clear from the beginning that I did not want any changes to my plan. I even shared my past bad experiences at this same location, where reps had added services to my account without my consent. I told him directly: I just want to purchase the phone and keep my current plan as is. He acknowledged this, and I left thinking everything went smoothly.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
When I received my new iPhone 16 Pro Max and checked my bill, I was shocked to find that Ibrahim had added and removed features without telling me:
He added Next Up Anytime for $10/month, which I never agreed to.
He added Protect Advantage for 4 for $50/month, another thing I didn’t request.
He removed my existing Protect Advantage insurance for 4 lines at $25/month, which I’ve had for years. That plan is no longer available at that price, so I may not be able to get it back — a huge loss, considering I never authorized this change.
None of these changes were explained or disclosed at the time of purchase. They just showed up on my bill.
To make matters worse, I called on May 14th to speak to a manager about this issue. I was told the manager was “in a meeting” and that I would get a call back. That call never came. It felt like a clear attempt to avoid taking responsibility for what happened.
⚠️ Beware to all current and future AT&T customers: sales reps can and will make unauthorized changes to your plan, and you may not even know until you get your bill. Always double-check everything, because apparently transparency is not a priority here.
This experience was disappointing, frustrating, and frankly dishonest. I expected better from AT&T. Based on this, I will be seriously reconsidering whether I remain a customer
