Reviews Summary

The overall sentiment for Better Leisure Centre, particularly Waltham Forest, is mixed. Reviewers frequently mention positive interactions with specific staff members such as Elaine and Kai, who are highlighted for their friendliness and professionalism. However, several critical incidents surface, including scheduling errors, unresponsive or discourteous staff, and significant concerns about accommodating children with special needs and handling of safeguarding issues. While some customers feel valued and supported, others express disappointment and frustration, indicating inconsistent service quality.

Several recurring themes emerge, including the quality of classes and instructors, the variety of family-friendly facilities, and affordable membership pricing. On the negative side, there are repeated complaints about parking charges, system errors with bookings, and at times a lack of appropriate response to customer needs, especially in sensitive situations. Waltham Forest patrons note both excellent staff and serious process or attitude gaps, particularly regarding inclusivity and aftercare.

Overall, Better Leisure Centre in Waltham Forest has strengths in its staff approachability and variety of offerings, but its reputation is affected by systemic issues and isolated negative customer experiences. For local customers in Waltham Forest, the centre is recognized for inclusive facilities and caring instructors, but improvements are needed in management responsiveness, booking reliability, and support for families with specific needs.

We booked courts for two badminton sessions. First one on a court 1 and second on a court 3. It was for Saturday and there was some "open doors" event so at Wednesday we got an email our first session was cancelled because court 1 and 2 were booked all day for gymnastics. Okay, fair enough. Even if it shouldn't be happening once the session was booked, we accepted it. The problem was the second session on a court 3 when bunch of guys nominated themselves to play on our court. We went to talk to manager and she said "oh, they booked it as well, 'the system' does it sometimes". Like it was common thing. When we asked why she doesn't ask THEM to leave she said they are regulars in there. So there are two options: the "system" is absolute joke or those guys were protected as they are "regulars". They made a refund for the session but I had to wake up early and lost more than 90 minutes only to commute to the place. Lost half a day because of their "system". I have a feeling there has to be higher management informed as this looks like manager's doing in a first place with her "regulars"

We signed our 4 year old up for swimming lessons at the Better Centre Waltham Forest with mixed success. But last week when our son refused to get in the pool for another week running, Elaine - one of the swimming coach leads made the lesson so much fun for him, he not only got in the pool, he stayed in, followed her gentle and encouraging instructions and smiled the entire time. We're hoping for big things now as he's told us he's looking forward to seeing Miss Elaine and going swimming again! What a turnaround. Thank you so much, Elaine and to all the fantastic teachers. Your kindness and support has made such a difference to our son's swimming experience.

Huge thanks to Kai at the Better Leisure Centre for his amazing customer service! He took the time to clearly explain the Dippers class process to me and my dad for my little sister, and made everything so easy to understand. Kai was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful — a true example of what great customer service should be. He really made a difference, and we’re so grateful!
