This is some text inside of a div block.
Scratch Pay was there for us twice when my dog had to be taken to the ER on two different occasions. They truly were a God send. And I don't have the greatest credit either. The interest rate wasn't bad at all. I feel as though they were very fair across the board. They're even forgiving when your late on payments. I never had any issues with them. Highly recommended!

I signed up for Scratch’s advertised 12-month zero-interest plan at my vet’s office, but the fine print revealed it was actually only six months. I tried to make regular payments, but their system often rejected my bank’s ACH transfers. After working with customer service to resolve it, one payment was charged twice, and the issues continued. Eventually, I mailed a check for the remaining balance, having been told I was still within the agreement window. The check was never cashed. When I followed up, Scratch said they hadn’t received it but told me to simply resend it. Months later, I received a $70 interest charge. Despite explaining the situation multiple times and being told it was escalated, I kept receiving past-due notices and was assured interest wouldn’t accrue during the review. When a decision was finally made, I was charged all interest—including what accrued during escalation. They waived a small portion, but I still paid an extra $104. Even after admitting their reps misinformed me and confirming it via call recordings, they took no responsibility. Their system also showed conflicting balances—online vs. phone. After being forced to pay with a credit card, I received a text showing yet another, higher balance that same day.

If you're having issues getting a loan to go through: 1. Use a Chromium-based browser like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Firefox will consistently fail with JSON parsing errors in the past step when making requests to Stripe. The webview used by the Android app is inconsistent and should probably be replaced with native components. 2. If you get the "Response Timeout" and an error page about half way through, wait about 30 seconds to see if it'll auto-refresh. If not, manually refresh. You may have to do this several times. I spent about an hour trying to help get this to go through when things had previously worked smoothly with minimal issues in the past. I am grateful for their services, and when it does work it does work. But when the automated process hits a hiccup, the options for recovery are limited and not at all robust and the customer service contact line really just serves as a verbal walk through of the same automated process rather than any means to get help via manual intervention. Depending on your situation you may very well be better off borrowing from your existing bank instead of using this service. Here's to hoping things improve. -- These people are not your friends, and if you're hoping for a human touch that cares about your pets, that is not what makes them money. Use with care.

Reviews Summary

Overall, customer sentiment toward Scratch Pay as a veterinary financing solution is mixed, with reviews showing both gratitude for accessible loans and frustration with technical and operational shortcomings. Reviewers consistently note ease of obtaining loans and flexible payment terms, even for those with lower credit, which many saw as essential in emergency pet situations. However, issues like technical difficulties during application, inconsistent approval outcomes, and miscommunication about loan terms and balances are common themes, while a few reports mention poor handling of customer support cases and problems with the online platform.

Frequent themes include appreciation for financial access during pet emergencies, straightforward application processes, and the ability to avoid interest by paying on time. Customers also point out significant drawbacks, such as inconsistent approval standards, lack of flexibility with loan use between facilities, account management limitations, and discrepancies in statements or reported balances. Some users express concerns over privacy practices and poor follow-up on reported errors.

In sum, Scratch Pay is regarded as a valuable but imperfect financial resource, especially for pet owners in urgent situations and those declined by traditional credit providers. Its reputation is shaped by reliable funding in emergencies, but also marred by technical issues, strict loan parameters, and unresolved support requests. The company draws a following for accessibility, yet negative experiences with account management temper overall trust.

Frequently Asked Questions About Scratch Financial, Inc.

How easy is it to apply for a Scratch Pay veterinary loan?

Many users find the application process straightforward and quick, often being approved immediately through the online system or at participating veterinary offices. However, occasional technical glitches may occur during application, which can sometimes be resolved by switching browsers.

Can I use my Scratch Pay loan at multiple veterinary clinics?

No, as mentioned in reviews, each Scratch Pay loan is tied to a specific partner facility. If you need treatment at a different clinic or are referred to another provider, you will need to apply for a separate loan for those expenses.

What should I know about loan approval and terms?

Loan approval is not guaranteed, even for repeat customers with good repayment history. Additionally, advertised terms (such as interest-free periods) may be detailed in the fine print, so it’s important to review all terms and stay in communication with customer service if questions arise.
