Reviews Summary

Overall sentiment toward LawnStarter’s lawn care service is strongly negative, with reviewers consistently expressing dissatisfaction regarding punctuality, reliability, and customer support. Common feedback highlights repeated issues with service cancellations, rescheduling, and unfulfilled appointments, with some customers noting additional fees due to delayed service. Several reviewers raise concerns about inflexible policies, poorly executed work, and difficulties with account cancellations.

Frequent themes across the reviews include unexpected charges (especially for 'long grass' fees), lack of transparency in pricing, and recurring problems with communication or responsiveness from both field staff and customer service. Customers routinely describe disappointing or inconsistent service—such as incomplete or hurried work, damage to property like sprinklers, and failure to address or correct errors. Specific staff and app functionality issues are also mentioned. Instances of poor follow-up amplify frustration, especially when compounded by missed commitments and unsatisfactory resolution attempts.

Based on reviewer feedback, LawnStarter is seen as unreliable and unresponsive by its customer base, with little evidence of remedied issues or consistently positive experiences. The majority of reviews from the United States reflect patterns of unfulfilled promises in scheduling, service quality, and billing clarity. Overall, LawnStarter’s reputation for lawn care services is dominated by consistent negative experiences and trust concerns.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE You’re better off getting a homeless person to do your lawn, they’re more reliable. I tried scheduling a service for over 10 days and kept on getting rescheduled. Finally the guy comes and says now it’s too long and I’m getting an overgrown grass fee. Which is the only reason I chose this place to begin with, because my grass was borderline too long and they claimed service in 2-3 days. Not even close. All they did was not ever even cut my grass and cost me more money now to get it mowed because they took so long. Don’t use these idiots, they have no idea what they’re doing.

Booked them over a week in advanced to get our grass cut Friday before our home sale pics Monday. Our assigned person decided not to cut Friday or Saturday. He said Friday was too wet (it’s FL - it rains every day, it really wasn’t that bad). Upon calling when no one showed up, customer service was no help and could not connect us with someone in time. 24 hours before I had to try and find someone on next door. All I could find was someone to come 2 hours before our home photo shoots and I had to pay $100 since it was last minute. Talk about stressful to the max!! Not what I needed! That’s why I booked over a week in advance! So disappointed in this service, highly unreliable. Don’t use them.

I wish I could give them zero stars. All they want is your money. Hired them to do a service, was quoted the $19 first cut price. Long story short, they charged me $90 and left me with a mess of patchy grass. The “pro” said 100% of my grass was over 9 inches which is literally impossible because half of my yard is dead grass. It doesn’t grow at all in more than half the yard. There were some patches that had long grass, but definitely not over 9 inches or more than 50% of the yard so I was not expecting to be charged 100% of the original fee. Their Long grass policy states that you’ll be notified beforehand to approve the pro to cut your grass and charge you the long grass fee - if them deem 50% of your yard to be long, you’ll be charged 50% of the ORIGINAL normal fee and if they deem 100% of your yard to be long, you’ll be charged 100% of the ORIGINAL fee, not the discounted price they quoted you. My $19 cut went from $19 to $90. Absolutely INSANE. And not only was I not notified of the long grass fee as they clearly state in their policy you’ll be notified beforehand, they lied about it being 100% of my lawn. And then they blew the clippings onto my neighbors’ cars and driveway and left patches of grass all in my yard. It looked so choppy and horrible and my house is in the front of my community and I have an HOA to report to. My neighbor was pissed off about the clippings being on his cars and driveway (which was completely valid) and my yard look like a hot mess. I was clearly unhappy with my services and I requested to cancel my account and they said they cannot cancel my account until I reach the 3 cut minimum. I told them about the service and they just kept telling me I can cancel once I’ve had a pro come out and cut my grass 3 times. I don’t want any of their pros coming onto my property and I made that very clear and they still would not cancel my account. So instead, I have to keep “skipping” the services until the end of time because they won’t close out my account after already overcharging me and doing a crappy job. I don’t know where they get these “pros” from but they’re the worst. You’re better off getting recommendations word of mouth or doing a little more research on landscaping companies in your area. These people will try to trap you and force you to use their “pros” even if they do a horrible job. My yard is very small. $90 is just straight up thievery. Personally, with the amount they charged just for the first cut, I just spent the extra money and bought myself a lawnmower and I’m going to do it myself. As the saying goes, if you want something done correctly, do it yourself. If you can’t, definitely go with someone else and NOT with LawnStarter. They suck. Just read the other reviews. They’re all consistent with each other. These people should be out of business. Attached are the photos of what was left of my yard after these “pros” cut my grass. Apparently this is what “neat and clean” looks like. What a joke.
