Don't get an "investment" from this company. All the great reviews you read are because these people were desperate for money and Hometap gave it easily and quickly. Hometap is going to receive hundreds of % more from them. I got "$85,431", only received $81,230, after they took the money for upfront costs. 5 years later they want me to pay them back $218,000 to settle the account, that's 250% interest charge! Or else they own 50% equity of my home. Get this not only that, if I were to sell it, they get half + the original $85,431. According to their contract, they're technically correct but ethically it's wrong. They take advantage of people who are in need of money. You're better off getting a loan anywhere than getting money from them. They're getting sued by the AG of Massachusetts, look it up. You have been warned.

Hometap has been upfront and truthful with me from the beginning. I "interviewed" 4 other companies. One said they could do it, but then denied me because I had 2 horses. Another said yes, but my credit score was too low. Another would do "anything" for our business including going into our Homeowners company policy and putting themselves in as the Primary Lender without my permission. After all was repaired, Hometap had promises made, promises kept. They kept me informed at every step of the way and their contract was superior to the others. My wife and I are very happy with their service and their service rep.

It was a slow start. We had Justin to start, and he was good but was always difficult connecting with him on a timely manner. The second guy "J" was great. The communication was great, often and timely on the status of my borrow status. Note: The offer letter they push to you isn't the amount you qualify for until after they completed the appraisal. I ended up signing for about $20K less than expected which is a big deal because it impacted the business purchasing plan. The closing was timely; we liked the Title Escrow person who gave us what type of people were taking out HEAs and it was good to know of the business owner types who were doing this kind of thing on the regular. Overall, our experience was really good! I would do this again pending the "settling up" experience. Based on what we experienced so far, I would do it again.
