Reviews Summary

Overall, customer sentiment toward Constellation as an energy supplier in Texas appears mixed, with both longstanding customer loyalty and notable frustrations highlighted. Reviewers consistently note friendly customer service and tangible cost savings as positive aspects, but issues with contract transparency, billing confusion, and service reliability are mentioned as ongoing criticisms. Some customers report easy transitions, while others express dissatisfaction with the initial setup and account management process.

Common feedback includes satisfaction with competitive rates, visible reductions in electricity bills, and value-add features like rewards and sustainability efforts (e.g., planting trees). Customers often praise the friendly, helpful nature of staff and the simplicity of online account management. However, recurring themes of high renewal rates, poor communication around contract terms, and inconsistent service activation processes emerge across reviews, suggesting gaps in consistency and billing clarity.

In summary, Constellation has developed a reputation in Texas for appealing perks and responsive support, which appeals to a segment of customers. However, persistent concerns about contract transparency, follow-through, and service reliability mean the company is regarded as a practical but sometimes problematic electricity provider. The feedback suggests future customers should review contract details carefully and proactively clarify account setup steps.

Constellation is a great company to work with. We had them set up for our business, and we've been happy with that for the last couple of years. We have now added our residential service. The 5 years I spent with my last provider have counted for absolutely nothing with them. The don't care about keeping good customers, only about generating new ones.

VERY UNETHICAL PRACTICES - Called to inquire about electric service as their home warranty perk with being a customer seemed like a good deal which would protect us from the possible high costs of AC and water heater repairs. Even though their price per KW is higher, my wife and I concluded it was worth the piece of mind of future unexpected repair expenses. When signing up, we asked a lot of questions regarding coverage and were told everything is covered unless specifically excluded which seemed like very few things which were mainly maintenance related. Fast forward, and our A/C breaks down 6 months into our contract. We were happy to know we wouldn't have to worry about this, especially with twin babies at home during the Texas summer months. We filed our claim and they sent one of their 3rd party companies to inspect our A/C which left us with an invoice of 3500 and said to call Constellation regarding repair coverage. Upon calling, Constellation's warranty department which goes by Home Protect, proceeds to tell us our part needed is not covered and falls under items excluded in the contract. When I ask to please forward contract reflecting this, they tell us they cannot because it was in the welcome package we would have received through regular mail. I eventually reach a service rep who is able to forward us the original welcome package that was sent to us with contract included. Upon review, we notice it Does Not mention our part as one of those excluded from coverage. We call Constellation's warranty claims department back and get transferred to same manager who we let know that we were able to get the contract and can now see it does not show our part as one of the excluded ones on the list. She then changes her approach to tell us in a very condescending manner that actually if it's not on the list of covered parts, then it's assumed it will not be covered. Seems like a very unethical company. Will seek out legal action as I am sure I am not the first or last customer that has experienced this.

I choose Constellation for my electricity in my new apartment in Texas. Their website is so user friendly and they have Reward Points you can use for gift cards and other things.
