Chaophraya's customer reviews analysis

The overall reputation of Chaophraya Thai Restaurant is markedly positive, with numerous patrons extolling its romantic ambiance, stunning views of Edinburgh Castle, and exceptional Thai cuisine. Reviewers consistently praise the elevated dining experience that combines an attentive service staff with a diverse menu. The restaurant appears to effectively cater to various dietary preferences, accommodating both vegetarian and allergy-conscious patrons. The attention to detail in service, as illustrated by individual staff recognition and careful food preparation, signifies a commitment to customer satisfaction. Despite praise for the cuisine's authenticity and flavor, indications of high pricing, notably for items such as Thai iced tea and high tea portions, suggest that while the restaurant provides a memorable experience, it comes at a premium cost. Reception to group dining is largely favorable, although one account mentions slow service, possibly due to the restaurant's handling of larger parties.

Positive Feedback

Chaophraya Thai Restaurant enjoys commendation for several positive aspects that contribute to its reputation as a fine dining establishment. Firstly, customers frequently appreciate the ambiance, mentioning romantic nuances and the restaurant's beautiful interior and views. The food quality receives high praise for its flavor and authenticity, with guests describing the cuisine as 'phenomenal', 'delicious' and 'exquisite'. Such positive responses are indicative of a successful culinary execution. Additionally, the service is repeatedly labeled as 'fantastic', 'top notch', 'attentive', and 'exceptional', highlighting the staff's proficiency and the personalized attentiveness of servers like Vincente. Dietary accommodations, including vegetarian and vegan options as well as allergy-awareness, demonstrate the restaurant's inclusive dining approach. Finally, the restaurant ambiance and service are also recognized for enhancing special occasions, making it a recommended spot for celebrations in Edinburgh.

Concerns and Threads

Despite many positive remarks, Chaophraya Thai Restaurant does encounter some criticism from its patrons. A recurrent issue pertains to the value for money, with certain customers finding the pricing to be on the higher side, particularly for items like Thai iced tea and high tea selections. These perceived inflated costs may deter some potential visitors. Additionally, while the portion sizes for entrees satisfy, the high tea portions reportedly fell short of expectations given their price point. There is also an isolated mention of slow service, which was attributed to large group accommodation, implying that service efficiency may fluctuate depending on the restaurant's capacity at any given time. Though such feedback is minimal compared to the overwhelming positivity in other areas, it indicates areas where the restaurant could seek improvements to ensure a consistently exquisite dining experience for all guests.

Our guide recommended this place for its stunning view and delicious food. We tried and absolutely love the food, ambience, service and cocktail. We went during lunch and didn’t sit on the side overlooking Edinburgh Castle as it was directly under the sun, causing glare for our eyes

Came here with a small group, with a reservation. First experience with Thai food, and I can say it was a pleasant surprise! We all ordered entrees (pork skewers), and they were amazing. Waited around with a couple of pints enjoying the magnificent views of the Castle, while the mains came. Great food! Had the Chicken Sweet and Sour with Dragon Fruit and my partner had the Chicken Pad Thai, and both were fantastic! To end the evening, we all tried the extensive cocktail selection that’s available. Service was top notch, and the servers were incredibly nice and attentive. Atmosphere was pretty nice too, very intimate. Definitely coming back here, whenever we’re back at Edinburgh.
