Reviews Summary

The overall sentiment in reviews for Bristow & Sutor's debt collection services is strongly negative. Customers repeatedly note aggressive practices, lack of empathy, and inflexibility in payment arrangements. There are consistent reports of distress due to the actions of the company's agents, with some users referencing mental health impacts and claims of unfair or incorrect enforcement. Only isolated instances cite respectful behavior from individual staff, but these are exceptions against a backdrop of predominantly critical feedback.

Common themes in the reviews include poor communication, perceived disregard for customers' circumstances, and difficulty resolving payment plans even when debtors are willing to pay. Many reviewers highlight unwanted house visits, additional surprise charges, and a lack of transparency around documentation. There are also mentions of data protection concerns, staff rudeness from some agents, and refusal to provide receipts or adequate explanations. Claims of legal and procedural violations appear repeatedly, adding to customer frustration.

Overall, Bristow & Sutor is regarded as having a problematic reputation in the UK debt collection sector according to these reviews. Experiences of feeling bullied, facing unresponsive service, and receiving inconsistent treatment appear widespread. The limited positive commentary about certain field agents does little to offset broader reputational issues identified in this sample.

What a horrible bully of a company. I was paying my debt. Every 2 months I would have to contact them again as they only do temporary reviews. Which is just crazy in itself. This time they made it so the amount is absolutely impossible to payback. I sent my monthly budget and to keep it the price I was paying. I was told no. I still have to pay it. But how if I can't possibly come up with the money. I dont have anything I could even sell to get them off my back. I have no one i could borrow it from as i have lost both parents and grandparents and my brother has autism. I have never known a company to be so utterly, shockingly bad. How is it still in business?

1 Star is still too high and if I could put less I would. Absolute disgrace of a company who act like bullies and show no empathy or respect to people. I was in regular contact with the company to see how I can co-operate while I was going through an appeals process for a penalty charge notice with TFL. I did not hear anything for months on end and eventually out of no where received further communication to explain the debt has been moved to the collections process. I explained I could not afford the full amount but offered to pay in affordable installments, to which they declined. I managed to pay parts of this off over the space of a month and asked if I could pay the remaining £145 at the end of the month (less than 2 weeks away) to which they declined and kept insisting it all needed paying at once and would send collectors if it was not paid the same day. The whole process has taken a massive toll on my mental health and they simply did not care, nor even attempt to understand. It’s disgusting that they can treat people with such little respect and humility. Disgusting company and they should all be embarrassed of themselves to even be associated with them.

Now I am not speaking on behalf of the company but purely on the two guys that came to my address today “‘Max” (and his amazing turkey teeth) and “Duncan” They were extremely polite and understanding with my circumstances. This house call was very unexpected and out the blue as I wasn’t aware of the outstanding balance. But within a few minutes everything was sorted and understood. A payment plan was set up and they even took my bin out for me. They true gentlemen and an asset to your company.
