Avoid White Sulphur Garage – Unorganized, Overpriced, and Terrible Customer Service
I had an extremely frustrating experience at White Sulphur Garage when I brought my car in for electrical issues. They had my car for six weeks, and during that time, I called weekly for updates, only to receive vague responses.
When they finally contacted me, Melissa, the receptionist, told me my total was $2,400 and that I could pick up my car in a few days. However, when she sent the invoice, I noticed over $700 in additional charges for work I never authorized—including a new oil change (even though I had just put expensive oil in), a new cabin filter, and a $75 towing fee (even though I towed the car myself with AAA). They even tried to upsell me on unnecessary wheel bearing replacements.
When I confronted Melissa about these discrepancies, she became defensive and sent me three new invoices with even more unrelated charges, bringing the total closer to $3,000. When I questioned the original $2,400 quote, she yelled at me on the phone, saying, “Is that what you want to pay?” My response? “No, it’s what YOU told me I was going to pay.”
I then requested to speak to the owner and waited over four hours for a response. When Kevin , the owner, finally called me back, his excuse for the chaos was that he had health issues and that his team was walking off. While I sympathize, as a business manager myself, I know that’s not an excuse for poor management and unapproved charges.
To top it all off, after replacing the computer in my car, they didn’t even bother reprogramming the remote. The service was disorganized, unprofessional, and frankly, a complete mess. If you value your time, money, and sanity, I highly recommend avoiding this shop until they figure out how to properly run a business.
