Reviews Summary

Based on recent customer reviews, Thumbtack's reputation among professionals appears overwhelmingly negative. Reviewers consistently note significant frustrations with the company's lead-charging system and lack of meaningful customer support. Many report being charged for leads that result in no business, highlight automated responses or chatbot interactions rather than real support, and express concern over unclear billing practices and refund denials. Thumbtack’s service is frequently described as unreliable or misleading, with multiple references to unresponsive support staff and broken dispute processes.

The most frequent themes revolve around questionable lead quality, excessive or unexpected charges, and a failure to provide human support. Multiple professionals mention fake or disconnected leads, unresolved billing issues, and feeling forced to pay for “dead” opportunities. There is recurring criticism of Thumbtack’s automated systems, lack of transparency, and punitive actions when professionals attempt to dispute charges. Several reviews mention geographic details such as San Francisco and the Colorado Rockies.

Overall, Thumbtack is perceived as untrustworthy by professionals in the United States, particularly when it comes to supporting businesses and managing payments. Reviewers repeatedly caution others to avoid the service, citing an environment where legitimate support and genuine business leads are hard to come by. The company’s reputation as a reliable partner for professionals appears severely damaged in these reviews.

Thumbtack charges professionals for leads that never reply and then refuses refunds. I was charged for 3 leads — no responses, no hires — and only got partial credit. Their refund system is broken, no real support. Stay away unless you want to pay for dead leads.

Misleading Charges, Nonexistent Support – Avoid at All Costs If I could give less than one star, I would. Thumbtack’s business model is not just confusing—it borders on deceptive. I attempted to set up a Pro account and was immediately met with a barrage of automated responses and zero actual support. Despite multiple requests for a call to finalize my setup, I was routed in circles by a chatbot. The only human I was supposedly allowed to speak with—Amy Williams—never returned a single call after over a week of trying. Every attempt to reach support redirected me back to the same unhelpful loop. Here’s where it gets worse: My credit card was charged multiple times before my account was even properly activated or usable. I was told to re-enter payment info to complete setup after they had already billed me. How is it possible to charge a card you claim isn’t on file? I raised formal disputes about these charges and was told to request a refund through an app that only allows disputes if Thumbtack decides the lead qualifies—which they rarely do. Meanwhile, I could not access a single usable lead. Every one I clicked on resulted in an error prompting me to “complete another step”—aka give them more payment info. Their system is a maze of automated dead ends, unclear terms, and unverified billing. No transparency. No support. No results. The entire process felt like a trap designed to collect payments while making it nearly impossible to get help or refunds. Unless you enjoy getting charged for nothing and talking to bots, I strongly do not recommend Thumbtack. Proceed with extreme caution.

This app is the biggest lie they've ever invented. Several friends and I thought it would be good, but I paid more than $2500 in leeds and never got a job! 80% of the people are fake! Don’t use this app ! You will regret for sure !
