Reviews Summary

The overall sentiment for SpotHero’s parking reservation service is negative, based on a clear trend of unresolved user frustrations. Reviewers consistently report technical glitches—such as non-functioning QR codes, difficulties entering or exiting garages, and reservations not honored on arrival. Many cite customer service and refund processes as sticking points, often describing unhelpful responses, denied refunds, or excessive back-and-forth communication. While a single review notes eventual satisfaction after a challenging first use, most customers express distrust and dissatisfaction, criticizing the company’s problem-solving and responsibility stance.

Common themes include failed reservations in busy areas like Boston, confusion with directions or instructions, and payment issues where customers pay both SpotHero and an on-site fee. Problems such as blocked vehicles, towed cars, and last-minute cancellations amplify frustration, particularly when SpotHero’s support is perceived as inadequate or dismissive. The only notably positive feedback came from a user who learned the system after experience, but this is the exception rather than the rule.

SpotHero’s reputation, especially in cities like Boston and New York, is challenged by repeated reports of unreliability and insufficient issue resolution. The lack of consistent fulfillment and customer-oriented action overshadows attempts to assist or refund. Trust and repeat patronage appear low, with most reviewers explicitly stating they will not use the service again.

I will not use Spothero again. I deleted my account. Too many times, the QR codes didn't work. It's wonderful when there's 5 cars behind you trying to get out of the garage, and you can't get the gate to open. You usually have to go get someone or wait for someone to come to you. This last time, the valet would not accept the code at all. He said they don't take it. I paid Spothero $25.00 and then paid $46.00 for another garage. I sent them the receipt, but they would not refund me. Noel the supervisor said they would reevaluate whether they will do business with that garage anymore. Like I care about that!

Terrible, terrible, terrible experience with Spot Hero and after 9 emails back and it seems like no one even understands the issue. I used the app for parking in Boston for a Pops concert and reserved parking for 5:00 to 11:00 since we were going to dinner before the concert. Was able to get in the garage no problem but, without my knowledge, linked my parking to the Shakira concert which was over a mile away. When the concert was cancelled they cancelled the parking reservation and refunded the cost of my ticket ($37). When I tried to get out of the garage I couldn’t, and 45 minutes later Spot Hero told me to press “lost ticket” which charged me a whole day, $42. They also told me to send them the receipt and they would take care of it. I assumed that to mean that they would refund me the $42 for my troubles. 9 back and forth emails later they said they already refunded the parking price. I won’t use Spot Hero again.

1 star for my first experience, 4 for the next. On the website I plugged in all the info including vehicle make and model and paid for a spot in Boston. It said your vehicle will fit. When I arrived the man said it was oversized and I couldn't park there. When leaving, another man said the lot next door was available. I was able to park there and I did get a refund over the phone. They said to read the fine print about vehicle size carefully I used it again for the next day at a nearby location and that went well.

Frequently Asked Questions About SpotHero

What happens if my reserved parking spot is unavailable when I arrive?

Several reviews indicate that reserved spots may sometimes be unavailable due to lot full or operational oversights. In such cases, customers may need to find alternative parking, and refunds are handled through SpotHero, though success and timeliness vary.

Will I be refunded if I encounter issues with QR codes or gate entry?

Some users report difficulties using QR codes to access garages. While SpotHero sometimes issues refunds for problems, many customers experience delays, denials, or minimal compensation. It is important to retain receipts and contact support promptly if issues arise.

How are parking reservations managed for events in busy cities?

Reservations can be canceled, and availability may change, especially around major events. Customers sometimes receive late cancellations and must arrange parking themselves. Reservations are not always guaranteed, particularly during high-demand times.
