Reviews Summary

Overall, sentiment toward Claremont Hospital is mixed, with several reviews highlighting excellent care and professionalism, particularly for hip replacements and surgical procedures. Reviewers consistently note positive interactions with named surgeons and nursing staff, commending their friendliness, competence, and attentiveness. However, recurring critiques focus on administrative issues, such as late cancellations, lack of communication, and aftercare concerns.

The most frequent themes are the quality of surgical and nursing care—with specific thanks to individual staff—and frustration regarding administrative errors and post-surgery follow-up. While many experience seamless surgery and attentive care, some patients report dissatisfaction with aftercare, difficulty accessing results, or cancelled appointments without remedy. These contrasting experiences are present across a range of treatments, from orthopaedic and hernia operations to cosmetic procedures.

In the Sheffield region, Claremont Hospital is regarded as a provider of strong surgical and ward-based care, particularly valued by patients seeking prompt treatment and effective surgeries. Nonetheless, repeated administrative shortcomings and isolated issues with aftercare limit broader trust, making reputation dependent on both clinical excellence and operational reliability.

4 weeks ago I had a right hip replacement at Claremont. My treatment was first class from start to finish. Extreme gratitude to Mr Tim Harrison for my excellent Treatment from admission to discharge. Also Martin Daican my anaesthetist who took extremely good care for me. Lastly the ward staff who cared for me without effort.

I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome by Chesterfield Hospital. They referred me to a consultant at NHS hospital but I would've had to have waited too long for the appointment. I managed to get an earlier private appointment with Spire Claremont as the pain I was suffering was severe and keeping me awake at night. An appointment was made. On the day of the appointment and two and a half hours before I received a text from Claremont informing me that my appointment was cancelled as the consultant didn't do private work there. I spoke with them and they repeated this. No alternative was offered and no apology for the mess up. I'm not sure how they were able to make a private appointment with the consultant when he only does NHS work there. I was so disappointed and felt completely helpless! I was in awful pain and unable to carry out my daily tasks but no one cared! I am sure the consultants, doctors and medical staff are very good but the negligence and slapdash attitude of the administrative staff reflects badly on the hospital. I have since sought help from BUPA and they are now progressing with my case.

I had a breast enlargement surgery with Dr. David Lam in October 2021, back when it was Claremont. Initially, my consultation and recovery process seemed smooth, and I was hopeful about my results. However, over time, my left breast has completely drooped due to what I now know were poorly fitted implants. I now require reconstruction surgery to fix the issue. The aftercare was dreadful. The nursing staff were incredibly rude and dismissive, making my recovery experience so much more stressful. When I tried to book a follow-up appointment to discuss my concerns, I was asked to pay a fee just to be seen. Now that the money has been taken, there seems to be little regard for the long-term outcome of the surgery. I underwent this procedure to gain confidence, as I had very little to begin with, but instead, it has left me feeling worse than ever. I would strongly advise anyone considering surgery with Dr. Lam to do thorough research before making a decision. I am now looking at taking legal action.
