Saigon Shack's customer reviews analysis

Saigon Shack appears to have a solid reputation among its clientele, primarily for offering delicious, generously portioned, and fairly priced Vietnamese food. Several reviews praise the quality and authenticity of dishes like the Lemongrass Chicken Bun, spicy short rib pho, pork chops, and various pho options indicating a consistently positive culinary experience. While its cozy setting in bustling NYC is appreciated, the limited availability of parking is a recurring logistical concern. However, the restaurant's popularity can lead to lines and wait times, which may be a testament to its gastronomic appeal rather than a deterrent. One point of customer service noted was the efficiency in handling crowds and quick serving time, although a more personable check-in by staff during the meal could enhance the dining experience. The cash-only policy is mentioned multiple times, suggesting it could pose an inconvenience for some diners, despite alternative QR code payments potentially being available.

Positive Feedback

Key positive aspects of Saigon Shack, as noted by customers, include the high-quality, flavorful, and authentic Vietnamese dishes that provide warmth and comfort, especially during colder days. The restaurant's portions are generous, giving patrons good value for their money, and several reviews specifically commend the delicious summer rolls, the rich pho broth, tender pork chops, and the grilled lemongrass chicken. The atmosphere of Saigon Shack is described as small and cozy, contributing to an inviting dining experience. Furthermore, service is perceived as efficient, particularly when managing the usual queues, and the food is served promptly, which customers appreciate in the busy NYC environment. The restaurant's popularity, especially among local college students, suggests it is a go-to spot for quality Vietnamese cuisine.

Concerns and Threads

Despite many positive reviews, Saigon Shack faces some challenges that affect its overall customer experience. A notable inconvenience is the restaurant's cash-only policy; though alternative QR code payment is mentioned, the lack of clarity and the failed attempt at online ordering highlight a potential area for improvement in payment flexibility. Customers also noted the crowded and closely seated arrangements that could detract from dining comfort. Furthermore, while the food receives high praise, there was at least one instance where a dish did not meet the patron's expectations for exotic flavors. Service, though quick, is sometimes perceived as lacking in personal attention, which could suggest an opportunity to improve the customer service aspect of the experience.

Food was delicious and offered generous portions. Price was fair as well. We had the Summer Rolls with tofu (amazing!) and the Lemongrass Chicken (vermicelli) Bun (also amazing). Small and cozy restaurant setting. Got there walking and grateful we did because parking is not so readily available but again, it’s NYC.

A hot steaming bowl of spicy pho was just what I needed on a cold day and Saigon Shack delivered. There always seems to be a bit of a queue here but it moves quickly and I was able to get in after 20 minutes. I went with the spicy short rib pho - and wow! It comes with an entire short rib, bone and all. The meat was nice and tender, noodles perfectly cooked and the spice in the soup warming without being over powering. Definitely a great bowl of pho - I look forward to returning and trying some of the other options.

Very good. We had to wait 20 minutes approx to get seated, but the waiter who took our names at the entrance was very efficient at handling the crowd. The food was very good. We had some fresh summer rolls, a Pho and a spicy brisket banh mi. Everything was very good, although I was a bit disappointed by the banh mi. Not that it wasn't good. It just didn't feel exotic enough. But overall, a very good experience.
