I wanted to Thank all the hard working volunteers and staff that put on the Star Wars Party! The actors were amazing. Little did any of them know that all of my kiddos (-1) were foster kiddos and little things like a party are a huge deal to them! They played with their gifts all evening and take home a core memory. I’m grateful for a hospital that doesn’t feel like you are just there to get poked and examined all the time. Thank you all!

This has not been a good experience at all. My son with quad cp and autism had surgery March 10th he has hip surgery on both hips. His hips has been out of socket for 10 years and I was tired of seeing him in pain. He could sat up for long periods. So we wanted to get help Dr. Christian did his back surgery in 2022 he did such and amazing job I was excited about the opportunity to be able to work with him again. It was 5 hour surgery. When I went to his room because he was hospitalized right after, he was humming in Pain digging in his hand I ask for them to give him pain meds they gave him Tylenol????????? Tylenol after a really large surgery? They sent him after 4 days he kelp running a fever of over 104. I told the doctor something is right he said it was impossible for him to have an infection sat before two weeks. But the fever was very concerning to me I called almost daily his heart rate was 144 plus. We went back to christman for two weeks follow up. He rushed the visit not even paying attention to the blood In the induction he said it was fine we went home still the same stuff.A pus field bump was on the insion Icalled again sent pictures I was advised to take him back to Riley. He has emergency surgery to open him back up because the infection has spread to the bone. This could have been prevented. Now my son has have a womb vac for a month and antibiotics. It's all so overwhelming but the hospital does not listen to your concerns I have had doctors get smart with I had Doctor tell me I am too focused on the past which his surgery was March 10th that's present! I called on call doctor today they had sent him home he was running another fever the doctor said what do you want me to do about it? I am livid right now my son has to suffer in Pain. I noticed over the years really amazing doctors leave every time I looked up they were sending letters saying one the doctors leaving. It's all gone down heel and that's so disappointing there is no one to take care of my special needs son. Something has to be about that hospital they need to shut this hospital down!!!!!!!!?!!! Right now !

Reviews Summary

The overall sentiment toward Riley Children's Hospital is mixed, with emotional experiences on both sides. Reviewers consistently note dedicated staff and volunteers, especially during events and in long-term care, with individual doctors such as Dr. Herrmann receiving specific praise for commitment. However, recurring criticisms include under-treatment of pain post-surgery, poor communication, unresponsive staff, and serious complaints about care for children with complex needs. These concerns are balanced by deeply appreciative voices describing compassionate outreach and life-changing procedures.

Common feedback themes include strong recognition for memorable hospital events, perceived medical skill in specific specialties, and positive long-term associations with Riley Children's Hospital. Meanwhile, a significant number of reviewers raise issues about medication policy, inattentive nursing, referral and follow-up failures, and organizational accountability, particularly in complex or special needs cases. Staff demeanor, most notably among nurses and in support operations like valet services, is addressed inconsistently.

Overall, Riley Children's Hospital is regarded as a provider with a historically positive community presence and specialized expertise but faces trust deficits with respect to timely communication, post-operative care, and responsiveness. The hospital’s reputation in its region is therefore characterized by significant highs and lows that potential patients should consider.
