Reviews Summary

The overall sentiment toward MyActive, including its gyms, leisure, and golf facilities, as reflected in recent customer reviews, is strongly negative. Reviewers consistently describe issues such as unhelpful or disrespectful staff, unresponsive customer service, and poor facility management. Customers across different locations recount experiences of feeling unwelcome, ignored, or unfairly treated, particularly when seeking refunds or assistance. Some specific staff members and managers are cited for rudeness or a lack of empathy, intensifying frustrations. Common feedback includes problems with communication, recurring booking issues, and difficulties obtaining refunds for cancelled services, especially at locations like Crofton Hall, Beckenham spa centre, and golf venues. Double-bookings, misleading online information, and delayed or absent responses from management are frequent themes. Several reviewers also express dissatisfaction with the overall condition of the facilities, attributing problems to weak operational oversight by both MyActive and local councils. Overall, MyActive has developed a reputation among customers for unreliable customer service and inefficient management in its UK venues. The recurrence of unresolved complaints and lack of accountability has undermined trust and discouraged repeat business, positioning its reputation unfavorably across the region.

I am writing to express my frustration and sadness regarding a deeply troubling experience I had at My active Crofton Hall yesterday Thursday 03/04/2025. This incident left me feeling unwelcome, disrespected, and marginalized, highlighting a broader issue within your establishment. During my visit, I was approached by a trainer named Matt, who loudly confronted me in front of other gym members, demanding that I leave the facility with my child, who was peacefully settled in a buggy and not disturbing anyone. It was particularly distressing that my child, who holds his own membership within the My Active network, was treated in such a dismissive manner. The lack of privacy and respect shown towards both myself and my child during this interaction was not only inappropriate but also humiliating. As a facility that promotes health and well-being, I expected to feel safe and supported while exercising with my child. Instead, the treatment I received stood in stark contrast to the welcoming and friendly environment that My Active advertises. Rather than fostering an inclusive space, I felt excluded and marginalized as a woman with a young child. This is simply unacceptable. My child is currently preparing for an exercise class and is learning about fitness and health. His interest in participating is growing, and observing the classes helps foster that interest. Additionally, he is not running around the gym; he is there to observe and engage positively. It's important to note that my husband and I are the only caregivers available to him, and we are both committed to ensuring he has a supportive environment as he navigates his fitness journey. Unfortunately, the handling of this situation was particularly hurtful for me. I have been battling depression and an autoimmune disease, specifically juvenile arthritis, which makes regular physical activity crucial for my well-being. The effort I put into being present at the gym is significant; I wake up early and make necessary adjustments to my day to be there. Thus, being told I was not welcome felt like a direct negation of those efforts. I believe that a little empathy could go a long way in such situations. Understanding the context of a member’s situation, especially for those of us managing health challenges, could foster a more inclusive and welcoming environment at Gym's. I urge you to consider implementing guidelines or training for your staff to promote a more respectful and inclusive environment. It saddens me to think that a place meant for fitness and community can foster such an atmosphere of disrespect. I sincerely hope that my experience will lead to positive changes that reflect the values of respect and inclusivity within your gym.

I have had such a bad experience with MyActive. They closed down our local centre in Leek. I had paid a year upfront and still had 6 months left when the closure happened. MyActive made no effort to contact me about a refund. I have made numerous phone calls and send lots of emails. Still no response. Avoid them and go somewhere else

I was a new member but after witnessing a member of the reception staff who said he was the Manager at the Pavilion, Bromley on the 14th December be extremely rude to a customer I have cancelled my membership.
