Reviews Summary

Overall, customer sentiment toward JRC Global Buffet in Croydon is mixed, with reviewers regularly highlighting both positive aspects and notable concerns. While the restaurant’s wide variety of international cuisines is a consistent draw, criticisms about food temperature, quality, and staff attitudes are mentioned repeatedly. Some guests appreciate features such as ample parking, accessibility, and large group seating; however, experiences with rude or dismissive staff and restrictive time limits on dining have negatively impacted satisfaction.

Common themes include praise for the restaurant’s extensive range of dishes and appealing dessert selection, with particular mention of pan-Asian and halal options. Despite this, quality can be inconsistent, with several reviewers remarking on cold, bland, or underwhelming food and feeling the overall value does not always match the higher pricing, especially on weekends. Service is described as a mixture of friendly and helpful by some, but impersonal or rushed by others.

JRC Global Buffet maintains a reputation in Croydon for its diversity of food choices and suitability for groups, but its standing is affected by operational shortcomings such as food consistency and service standards. Patrons value variety and convenience but caution about food quality and time constraints. For those in Croydon seeking quantity over quality, JRC remains a prominent, though polarizing, option.

We went to JRC in Croydon after not returning in 10 years. The memories I had about it wasn’t the best but we were celebrating something and I thought if it’s still open after 10 years it might have had some improvements. To my surprise the decoration still exactly the same and the chairs and tables if are not the same then they look exactly as the ones I remember. Some changes have been put in place and they are not good, before we used to pay £19.99 on a Saturday with everything included, now it costs £28 per person + £4 per person for the drinks. I personally found expensive taking into account the quality of the food and specially the food being cold which is a shame and results e massive food wastage as people just leave the cold food on the plates and get food that is warm. I absolutely hate to waist food but I could not avoid it as the food was very cold and it was not nice to eat at all. The grill area is only to be used once and it limits each guest to 2 choices, if I’m not wrong we used to be able to choose more items and use the grill station twice. As positive points there’s a huge variety of foods, so if you get a small amount of food each time you can enjoy the food warm. The chocolate fountain and the marshmallows is really nice. I guess we pay for the variety not the quality. Also because we didn’t book we were only allowed to stay for 1.5 hours which is not enough if you eat a small portion of food each time. As very negative point quite a few members of the staff are rude, specially a girl that cleans the dishes which has absolutely no manners and don’t even look up when we were trying to place our plates on the cleaning station nor say a word or reply to our “thank you”. In resume my opinion is that this restaurant in general got worse, the staff also got worse. The only 2 people of the staff that were nice it was the person who took our payments and the security guy that opened the gate for us to leave. I’ve paid £96 for a lunch for 3 people which didn’t makes us feel it was worth it. I rather pay more for better food, hot food and much, much, much better service.

I’d come across this place and found it has a good variety of food and multiple cuisines. For those interested in quantity it is a great option. We did enjoy some of the dishes and given that it caters to various palates, I suggest trying very small quantities to avoid wastage. However, this may not entirely be possible with the dessert section as the kids would love to try everything. I’d probably suggest placing out tasting portions on toothpicks in various sections to avoid over serving. The meal for 3 including a child at full price was about 90£. It was a good experience visually and we went at a slow time so it was a relaxed. Again if you really prefer quality over quantity, I’d rather spend that at a specialty restaurant. There are some sections like the sushi and teppanyaki (limited) that are worth it.

My daughter brought her young sister and me here for my birthday meal. It appears enticing on the website offering a mix of cuisine's from French to Chinese, Italian to Greek and many more. Very disappointing. The staff are apathetic. Apart from the Chinese, which was passable, the food was all bland, under-cooked, cold and unappetising. As it was getting too late to go elsewhere and it was meant to be my treat I forced some food down and my young daughter ate a small amount. However, my older daughter just picked at the items on her plate but could not bring herself to eat anything. She was extremely upset as this was meant to be a treat but turned into torture. We complained and were told the food was all perfectly OK. When we showed that the bread was as hard as the table and proved the food was cold we were told "that is your opinion." I called for the manager, Sanj, who refused to see us until we insisted and he was very dismissive. Again we showed how cold and stale everything was and my daughter's plate was completely full with nothing touched. Even though I had eaten only part of my food i offered that we would pay in full for mine and the child portion but would like a refund for the untouched plate, Sanj, this time told us it was just our opinion. £25 for a plate provably stale, cold food is disgusting. They have you over a barrel because you pay in advance. The food was appalling and the service worse. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! I am worried that the food being left out in tepid temperatures could pose a serious food poisoning risk and will be asking Croydon Food standards to carrying out unannounced inspections.
