This is some text inside of a div block.
Yet another shinning example of the uk government shafting its people. They only give 24 hours to pay the charge or they will "fine" you. This demonstrates that the government are useless and think that further shafting decent people is a good thing. Either scrap the charge or send a bill. If the bill is not paid after 30 days, then send a fine.

Ever since this current company took over, nothing seems to work with dart charge. We had an account but the charges were never deducted, so had to pay separately every time. Now to pay online is a nightmare as it gets stuck at page where you are required to give card details. Firstly it doesn't get to that page and when it does, it doesn't let you put in card details. I tried calling to pay by automated service , another disaster, tried several times to give my vehicle number and each time it kept getting it wrong. Last time, I had to call them to pay. Unfortunately, phone lines are open only up to 8 pm. If I could I would give -10 for this review. I find it hard to believe that even after over a year when this company took over, they still have technical issues. It seems to me an intentional system design to make people forget to pay so that they can charge penalty. Unfortunately it seems, similar to debt collectors and private car parking companies there are no regulations for this Dart Charge company as well, and they can run it the way they want. Feels like we are going backwards in time in UK while the rest of the world advances.

The Dartford Crossing is a magnificent feat of British engineering, elegantly spanning the Thames with a poise that belies its utilitarian purpose. Whether gliding over the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge with panoramic views of the river's silvery sprawl or descending into the cavernous tunnels that burrow beneath its depths, one cannot help but feel a sense of grandeur in transit. It is not merely a crossing—it is a rite of passage, a steel-threaded lifeline between Kent and Essex that pulses with the ceaseless rhythm of commerce, commute, and connection. Even its infamous congestion adds a curious charm, turning the mundane into the mythic, a modern pilgrimage punctuated by tolls and taillights. I have attached an artists impression of the bridge.

Reviews Summary

Overall, customer sentiment toward Dart Charge and the operation of the Dartford Crossing is negative, with reviewers reporting frustration over both the toll payment system and the penalties associated with missed or late payments. While one review praises the infrastructure of the crossing and another commends friendly and efficient staff, the prevailing tone is critical, citing poor user experience, technical problems, and perceived unfairness in the penalty process.

The most common themes across reviews include dissatisfaction with the online payment portal, frequent account errors, surprising penalty charges, and limited support phone hours. Several customers detail experiences of accounts being deleted without warning, time frames for payment that are perceived as unreasonable, and difficulties resolving issues with customer service. Criticisms also focus on the automated systems, perceived lack of regulation, and aggressive penalty enforcement, occasionally comparing Dart Charge unfavorably to other private or government-run services.

Based on the majority of review feedback, Dart Charge’s reputation in the UK is marked by widespread mistrust and user frustration, particularly within London and South East England. Recurring technical challenges, rigid penalty policies, and communication issues drive repeat negative experiences, although isolated positive comments on staff and infrastructure appear. The overall reputation is problematic, especially concerning user trust and operational transparency.
