Reviews Summary

The overall sentiment toward AdvisoryCloud, a company providing advisory board opportunities and consulting access, is mixed, with a notable divide between positive and negative experiences. Several reviewers praise specific onboarding team members for their professionalism and the thoroughness of the onboarding sessions, highlighting clear, interactive communication. Some customers also report satisfactory issue resolution from customer care regarding billing. However, significant concerns over unexpected charges, difficulty canceling trials, and accusations of unethical business practices are common points of criticism.

Several frequent themes emerge: onboarding experiences are often viewed as helpful and informative, particularly with staff members like John Israel and Ric. Conversely, billing processes elicit frustration, including unclear communication about withdrawals, inability to find valuable advisory opportunities, and disputes over refunds. Customers repeatedly mention issues with trial subscriptions, feeling misled by marketing claims, and finding limited actionable opportunities despite paying ongoing fees.

On balance, AdvisoryCloud’s reputation is polarized. The company garners trust for the quality of onboarding support and responsive customer service in some cases, but persistent complaints regarding billing practices and perceived lack of value negatively impact its overall standing. These split perceptions should be considered by potential subscribers evaluating the service.

I signed up for the AdvisoryCloud trial after seeing an ad. It is a fantastic concept. I quickly realized that I did not have the time to invest, to make membership worthwhile, while I was on maternity leave. I attempted to cancel on the last day of my trial but must have missed some time deadline because I was charged. After going back and forth with the customer care team, they agreed to refund my charge since I made my request the day my trial ended. I deeply appreciated their assistance and willingness to meet me on this matter.

Be aware if you sign up for the free subscription and not cancel, they will take money out of your account without giving any notice prior to withdrawal and no receipts. It is unethical to withdraw from anyone’s account without the proper notifications. For 5 months I did not notice I was being charged. Not 1 email… just took my money and never said a thing. What a terrible way of doing business

Their service may be good for an experienced individual looking to find paid consulting work by attending board meetings. You are not paid to attend and contribute at advisory board meetings as their marketing suggests. Any benefit from attending (for a monthly or annual fee to Advisory Cloud) is professional development by engaging with the company's CEO and other board members. This can be quite valuable and the ideas may spark organizing/growing your own business. While engagement in a valuable way may lead to a compensated arrangement directly with that company, obtaining a project or consulting position is based on the value of your contributions at unpaid board meetings.
