Reviews Summary

Nom Wah Tea Parlor garners a positive reputation as a beloved spot for dim sum in NYC, with customers frequently lauding the food's quality. The majority view the dishes as delicious, highlighting the scallion pancakes, shrimp balls, stuffed eggplant, and various dumplings and rolls among their favorites. Notably, the restaurant's ambiance receives praise for its historic charm and throwback decor reminiscent of the mid-20th century Hong Kong cafes. However, some diners express concerns regarding service speed and quality, and the payment options seem to be an inconvenience for some, as the establishment is largely cash-only or accepts American Express. Recurring themes in reviews touch upon the generally reasonable prices, the expected wait times due to popularity, and the unique, tasty offerings of the menu, yet also include less positive aspects like cramped seating and occasional service hiccups.

Most delicious dim sum I’ve ever had. This spot is super popular for a reason. The scallion pancakes were the perfect crispy texture. The shrimp balls were crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and delicious all around. The fried dumplings were also very tasty. A pot of jasmine tea is the perfect way to wash it all down. The line for this spot was super long when I left, so try to get there before noon.

Known as the first dim sum place in NY. There was a long line to get a table. After we got seated, the tables were kind of close to each other. This isn’t a large place. There was actually an older white lady that was complaining about us taking pictures of the food, unbeknownst to her, this is how people find out online if something is good. She definitely wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. The service was meh, we got our food fast. The food itself is decent. It wasn’t super tasty but it wasn’t horrible either. I only came here because of the reputation, so I don’t think I’ll return.

Excellent food! The place is so cute and the wait in line is totally worth it. Service is quick although they forgot to bring us one item. Our favorites were the stuffed eggplant, eggrolls, spare ribs with flat noodles. Also good but not that special: the scallion pancakes, dumpling soup and fried rice.
