Reviews Summary

Overall, customer sentiment about Motor Range as a used car dealership is mixed, with a notable split between positive sales experiences and dissatisfaction with aftersales service and vehicle reliability. Reviewers consistently mention friendly and non-pushy sales staff, with individuals like Rick, Andrei, and John Wilson highlighted for their personable approach and for making customers feel comfortable during the car-buying process. Some customers appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, smooth documentation process, and the dealership’s flexible approach to test drives. However, criticisms arise around post-sale support, unresolved vehicle faults, and difficulty obtaining compensation or clear communication regarding repairs.

Common feedback includes significant concerns about the quality and condition of vehicles sold by Motor Range, lengthy repair timelines, and the effectiveness of warranties. Several reviewers express frustration with aftersales communication, reporting that calls and emails often go unanswered and some faults were not acknowledged or addressed promptly. The lack of courtesy cars and limited recourse in complaints processes are recurring themes, as are delays in refunds and stress related to disputes over consumer rights.

In summary, Motor Range’s reputation as a used car dealer reflects both approachable sales interactions and persistent challenges in aftercare and issue resolution. In the UK used car market, trust is influenced not just by the initial purchase experience but by consistent support and transparent communication after sale, areas where customer feedback suggests Motor Range has opportunities to improve.

Was greeted warmly by Rick the moment I left the customer car park where he simply introduced himself and asked what I was looking for. I told him I’d seen a car on their website and he immediately went to get the keys and let me have a test drive. It was no issue for me to try my daughter’s car seat out in the car and Rick seemed like a genuinely decent guy with a real interest in helping the customer. No pushy sales techniques and I was given plenty of time and space to make my own decision. In less than a week the car was given a full MOT and valet before finishing a little bit of paperwork and the keys were mine. No fuss and decent communication throughout. Cheers Rick, top bloke!

Absolutely Awful Experience – Avoid at All Costs! I travelled six hours to buy a car from this dealership and was assured there were no issues with it. However, when I returned to Scotland and had a proper inspection the very next day, I discovered multiple faults. I informed them immediately, only to find out they had been aware of these issues — yet said nothing at the point of sale. Since then, I’ve had to constantly chase them for updates. Despite all my efforts, the issues are still not fixed to this day. I’ve received no compensation, no apology — just left stuck with a faulty Mercedes. They repeatedly told me someone would call me back, yet nobody ever did — I had to keep chasing them myself. They claim to carry out thorough inspections on their cars — clearly a joke. I wasn’t even given a proper opportunity to inspect the car myself before purchase. They took the car away under the excuse of “just putting fuel in it,” rushed me through the paperwork, and returned it with barely £20 of fuel. After two months of me chasing, they finally agreed to fix the issues. Then, the day before they were supposed to collect the car, they suddenly refused. Now, their solution is to tell me I can bring the car back to them — but they’ll charge me to fix problems they knew about before the sale and should have been fixed in the first place. They’ve completely backtracked on their promises, avoided responsibility at every turn, and expected me to cover the costs for their own failings. If you value honesty, customer service, or your hard-earned money — avoid this place at all costs Update – Still No Progress, Still Ignored Despite their response claiming they’re “committed to resolving the issue,” absolutely nothing has been done. No one has contacted me to arrange any repairs, despite repeated promises. I’m still stuck with a car that needs fixing — and they clearly have no intention of following through. It’s now been months, and the dealership has made zero effort to resolve this professionally. They said they were happy to carry out the repairs, but never bothered to actually arrange anything or even call me. Their so-called commitment to customer service is just empty words. The car still has the same faults it did when I bought it. No repair. No progress. No accountability. This experience continues to be a complete nightmare. Avoid this dealership — they do not care once they’ve taken your money.

As many other have mentioned in their reviews once the car has been sold I personally feel the communication in regards to updates of the cars progress is lacking, however they do use a no pressure sales tactic and allow unaccompanied test drives which is a nice experience. We had an issue with the coolant system after our purchase, at first I was not impressed, although I realise it is just pot luck. However, Erika (the service manager) was incredibly helpful and updated both myself and my partner throughout the repairs process and listened to our concerns, she truly made the experience a lot better and should be what all staff on the site strive to act like with customers. (The car has now been rectified and is in good condition. The only notable gripe is that the mechanics didn’t use paper mats in the car and therefore it was handed back with a filthy interior)
