The Los Angeles Zoo exhibits a mixed reputation based on the recent customer reviews. Patrons commend the zoo's variety of animals and educational value, particularly for children. There's frequent appreciation for the zoo's layout and maintenance, seemingly providing an agreeable environment for family outings and animal-viewing experiences. However, a significant portion of dissatisfaction emerges due to numerous exhibits being under construction or closed. These closures, often involving popular attractions like the elephant exhibit or the petting zoo, seem to diminish the overall experience. Moreover, some guests express concerns over the adequacy of animal enclosures and the visibility of animals within their habitats. It is quite clear that the zoo's appeal is hampered by the ongoing renovations which have led to a decrease in the variety of animals on display, with noted absences of traditionally expected zoo fauna such as elephants and certain reptiles.

It was good but a lot of the exhibits are either under construction or closed. The structures that were open are nice but leave a lot of room for improvement. Overall me and my family enjoy the trip but expected more of a big city zoo, especially Los Angeles.

We spent maybe 2 1/2 hours walking the whole Zoo. Lots of exhibits were closed. It is a great place to take the kids for a few hours. I recommend buying tickets in advance so you don't have to wait in line. Bring snacks, and I recommend having lunch outside of the Zoo. After the Zoo, we went to a sit-down restaurant with better-quality food. Also, there are many vendors in the parking lot selling food, toys, hats, and much more.

Went the day before Christmas Eve with my partner for our anniversary. Totally empty. Zoo was overall fun, but everything felt kinda small, including the enclosures. Many were completely closed or under renovation. Many of those closed were in disrepair and full of trash. The elephant was sad. A goat virus was going around so the petting zoo was closed. The cave portion was kinda culturally insensitive. Flamingo closure was cool they were biting each other and watching the handlers interact with them was cool.
