Reviews Summary

The Library of Birmingham receives high praise predominantly for its stunning architecture, excellent views of the city, and a rich collection of reading materials, which include books, records, and historical documents. Visitors highlight the free access to diverse floors, roof areas, the secret garden, and the Shakespeare memorial room for enhancing their experience. The facility's modern amenities, such as cafes and study spaces, are also commended. However, a recurring minor criticism revolves around the elevators being occasionally out of order, which somewhat hinders accessibility within the library. Parking availability and accessibility via public transport are mentioned favorably, though the cost of parking warrants consideration. Nevertheless, the Library's ability to cater to various interests—tourists, historians, bibliophiles, and families—contributes positively to its reputation as an inviting and enriching community space in Birmingham.

The Library of Birmingham offers a breathtaking top view of the city, providing a unique perspective that captivates visitors. The panoramic scenes from the library's vantage point are truly spectacular, allowing patrons to appreciate the city's architectural beauty. One notable aspect of the library experience is the infusion of Shakespearean charm. As you ascend in the lifts, you're greeted by Shakespeare quotes, adding a literary touch to the journey. It's a delightful nod to the literary legacy that Birmingham proudly embraces. The clever incorporation of these quotes adds an intellectual and cultural dimension to the overall experience. The library's commitment to Shakespeare's thoughts not only pays homage to the literary giant but also enriches the visitor's journey. It's a thoughtful touch that sets the Library of Birmingham apart, making it a must-visit literature enthusiasts. It also has a music section where records and piano scores are available for certain set of albums. In addition to the captivating top view and Shakespearean ambiance, the library's well-designed architecture and modern amenities make it a welcoming space for diverse interests. Whether you're a bookworm, a history buff, or someone simply in search of a peaceful spot to enjoy the cityscape, the Library of Birmingham exceeds expectations. It seamlessly blends modern functionality with cultural significance, making it a gem in the heart of the city.

I was visiting here more as a tourist and not a regular library user. It is a very nice library, architecturally. And especially the Shakespear library was a key feature of interest due to its history. There are several viewing points (albeit the views are a bit underwhelming)
