Reviews Summary

The overall sentiment toward Carwow’s car selling service is mixed, with both satisfied and dissatisfied customers providing detailed accounts of their experiences. Reviewers consistently note the efficiency of the online listing process, ease of sale, and thorough support from specific staff such as Monica, Harry Hutchon, and Greg McRobb. However, criticisms are present regarding inconsistent customer support, delays in communication, and problematic dealings with some buyers during and after the auction.

Common themes in the reviews include praise for Carwow’s digital features such as using stored photos to simplify the process, responsive phone follow-ups after sale, and quick payment upon vehicle collection. Key concerns raised relate to auction policy transparency, communication breakdowns when arranging vehicle collection, and issues with third-party drivers or payment timing. The resolution of pricing and documentation were also mentioned as points requiring clearer management.

Overall, Carwow is recognized for its convenient online car auction platform, with satisfied users in the UK highlighting smooth transactions and staff attentiveness. At the same time, unresolved negatives—such as unreliable dealer follow-through and difficulty reaching customer service—affect the company’s reputation. Carwow is regarded as a practical but sometimes unpredictable solution for car sales in the UK.

This review is to highlight my wonderful experience with Carwow when I sold my car on 4th March 2025. I agreed for my car to be listed on auction after my initial online valuation and telephone conversation with Carwow agent. I was informed of a potential buyer (highest bidder) within 24hours after the said auction date. Extra documents where sent via a link and a pick up date agreed. I took time to read up reviews from mostly recent clients on Google review and Trustpilot to understand expected challenges. I came up with three major concerns; 1. ID check of the pick up driver and the person must have to be insured to test drive my car. Else, I was happy to drive while the person sits in as a passenger. 2. Car selling /buying contract form downloaded from online must be signed before the driver is allowed to leave with the car stating time of transaction as a measure to protect me if any issues arises after. 3. Guarantee that any agreed amount must be paid into my account before I release the car to the driver. Example: an email from the bidder stating the amount and when to expect payment (I was given around 2pm on the date in writing). I was satisfied with the conditions and the agreed amount was paid without hassle or stress of any kind. My advice is that you communicate all concerns in writing and sell only when you feel satisfied. I was never under any pressure to sell (distress sale) and so was able to get a good deal. Very big thank you to Monica and other carwow staff for making the entire process a seamless experience.

What a waste of time. Took a week to get listed due to awful offshore customer service, put a reserve on way below market value, achieved a sale and took days to validate documents, dealer buying then discounted price by £500 for miles done since listing, took a week to get in touch only to go over car with fine tooth combe and want to reduce price again. Customer service are difficult to talk to by phone, never respond to email and who service is appalling. Withdrew from sale and wanted 2wks. Never again. Avoid!!!

Use Autotrader dealer auction instead… horrendous experience with Carwow. Sold our car through their “auction” process. The dealer that agreed to buy then gave a million and one excuses why couldn’t collect, relisted only for the same to happen, unfortunately this isn’t an auction, there’s no binding agreement to purchase… there’s nothing to stop anyone registering as a dealer, winning every auction with no intent of ever following through with a purchase. Dealer auction through Autotrader was the complete opposite. Binding agreement upon acceptance of the offer. Moral of the story stay well clear of Carwow unless they change their policies!
